There's not a TON of room to improve on the PQ, but good news on the disc

hmm....the reviewer has a point. The 20 year anniversary is right around the corner ( omfg....20 years!) and there will no doubt be another, possibly superior version coming out around that time. Maybe I'll wait after all.

At least they compared it to the Optimum release.

I would prefer the first Terminator have a skynet edition, but I'll be picking this up nonetheless.

I have the first release of the original, and I held off on T2. I'll pick this up, but it's bvious that we'll get dipped again since you can't watch the features without watching it in PiP. This looks like it'll be the only terminator sequel worth having on Blu.

Unfortunately, the PQ/AQ improvements along with having the extras necessitate this purchase for me (my first BD double-dip). If a 20 year restoration is put out in 2011, then I'll have to triple-dip...I just LOVE this film.

EDIT:

I eagerly anticipate the Lowry-restored T1, but Skynet figures more prominently in T2; it doesn't have a strong association with the first film.

The US version is also going to have a higher bitrate encode.

Van Ling said so.

which case? the steelbook in the review or the US release one in this thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=85539

this thread should be moved or tagged (IMO) since it isn't a review of the US release, even if they are similar. people are going to get confused...

I thought the original T2 BD release was ok.

I ordered this one up and look forward to comparing.

It would be nice to get some comparison shots of key scenes.

I wasn't planning on getting this as I have the first release, but now I am seeing this has the Special Edition and the Extended Special Edition and I don't think I have ever seen either of them... I think I may have only ever watched the Theatrical... IMDB says the theatrical is 137min where the extended special is 154min... I think this may have just changed my mind.

I don't like the fact that the Special Extended Edition is another easter egg. Why can't they just make a normal "Play Movie" function for it?

Anyways, more than likely the easter egg code will be the August 29, 1997.
