I would put this in the movies section but since it only had an Aus release I think more people who watched it would see it here. Did anyone see this? It was from the Jacobson brothers who made Kenny, and it is seriously my favourite film of the year. It's darkly (and casually) funny, intimate, good drama and a very affecting thriller. The quotes they've used from reviews to promote it are pretty accurate, many have described it as Coenesque and I'd say that's true. Just really good all round.
However, with a budget of nearly 2 million, it flopped hard, making only $200,000 in the box office. It saddens me that such a great movie can fail this badly. I honestly think Australians just have no confidence in homegrown filmmakers and it's not really justified, in fact it's really disheartening. Anyway, the lack of popularity means no blu-ray, but I tell you what, I'm getting the DVD at least, and I strongly recommend everyone get this on DVD or digital and give it a watch. It's definitely worth it.
I've linked the trailer below but I would go in blind personally, it spoils a number of the twists and the movie is best going in knowing nothing.
