Misc. Information:

Information on the change of Design A:
Quote:
When we revealed <Rust and Bone>’s original slip cover design with a “photo-wall” concept, it was clearly unpopular.

The “photo-wall” image that we used for [Design A] appears briefly in the movie. It’s a wall of photographs from Stéphanie(Marion Cotillard)’s past and we thought it would be a good idea to show them properly in high-resolution.

But at the same time, we knew how it didn’t directly represent the feature film itself.

After a week of brainstorming with our design partner at Propaganda, we’ve decided to give [Design A] a new look.

The “photo-wall” image will be used for the booklet instead.

<Rust and Bone> will be released in two designs as shown below.

Thank you.

Best regards
PLAIN ARCHIVE
(See the end of this OP for how Design A was meant to look)

Hand-sealed envelopes:

Quote:
Our upcoming release 'Rust and Bone' includes a set of high-quality pictures of Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts –– carefully packaged inside a white envelope.

We’re individually sealing the envelope with beeswax, heating it in the spoon using candles.

Every seal will look different from one another. This is one of our latest efforts to humanize our products and we hope you like it.

Higher Print-run:

Info from FB (Link to FB post)

Quote:
Our non-Steelbook releases <Blue is the Warmest Colour> and <The Master> both sold out within 24 hours. Many customers have asked to increase the number of copies from our usual 1000.

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to increase the number of copies of <Rust and Bone> by 50%.

**Please note that we don’t have any plans to release <Rust and Bone> as a Steelbook.

PA008 <Rust and Bone> will be released in two versions. The difference is the Slipbox and the Booklet design.

More details are coming next week. Thank you.

Best regards
PLAIN ARCHIVE
This will not be a SteelBook edition (answer to a question on FB), "But it'll be a beautiful package as like 'Blue is the warmest colour'(PA004) "

It's a great film, not a lot of rewatchability for me, but still very good and outstanding performances.

I picked up the US amaray super cheap used last year and ended up selling it after watching it because I just didn't think I would revisit it any time soon. Regardless of that, I'll still be getting this.

Just read the two slipcover info, not a fan of that for amaray releases whatsoever.

I see a terrible trend starting if these sell well (which I highly doubt honestly).

I picked up the US release super cheap also, although I haven't seen the film yet. I'm leaning toward the blue slipcase, but I really don't like that there isn't a quote from the film on the back. Instead there's a quote by some guy from the New York Times. Doesn't match up with the other releases...

I like the second cover. The first is too busy although I do like the coloring.

A picture update to the OP today.

I'm SPOILER wrapping older pictures (except for the pre-order timetable since this will most likely be useful for another week) to avoid the OP being too long, let me know if you'd rather see everything at once and I'll remove the tags again.

Wow, I'm speechless
They're going to seal an envelope (postcards) with that wax stamp.
One by one, manually, to show how much they care about their product.

I'm going to echo some of the other thoughts here. Increasing run size I dont think is wise. I'm totally fine with non-steelbook releases but they just won't sell as well, especially for a very niche film. Then multiple slips? Come on, that's really milking it, this hardly is a 'a' list title in any sort of demand, that is pretty bold to think they can sell multiple versions of this release. I'll grab one and at the moment I prefer the 'blue' slip but no way I pick up two.

Still really looking forward to the release and adding it to my collection. Not sure I'll even be online for drop... No need to. (I imagine I'm merely posturing with that statement, who ami kidding )

This is exactly how I feel about the situation. I would like them to keep the run numbers lower, but at the same time I want them to make more money, but this release isn't a "money maker" at all. Unfortunately, if The Wrestler 1/4 slip steelbook can sit around for a year now, I'm afraid this will be available for quite a long time.

1.5K run of this release still isn't enough IMO.
Both PA & Marion Cotillard are extremely popular in Korea.
Fans of either are going to buy both editions no matter what.
