Default This is it...the 11th hour...

Harry Potter success on Blu vs HD-DVD will sway Warner one way or another at the end of this quarter. This is their biggest Hi-Def release to date....bigger than 300. I'm very curious to see how well this will sell....

I sorta agree with you on this. I am seriously considering getting the limited edition set even though they are making 2 more movies. I want to hold off, but I might not just cause I am an avid BD back. I also love these movies and they will look great in HD.

Well. I got Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix .... I did my part.

But I also pledge, that I'll buy every Warner blu-ray release for a hole year, if they go blu-exclusive.

The pessimist in me believes that Warner will not be paying to much attention to sales. In the end they will prolly do w/e they wanna do. I don't think they will be as "cheap" as Paramount, but still. If sales mattered as much as some people here think they do, Blu-ray would have won a long time ago.

I am thinking about getting it but might not be able to for another two weeks at least since a lack of funds.

I bought all 5 too as well, not the set. This is bound to be the biggest neutral title this winter. No doubt.

For some reason I feel that Harry Potter will do better on HD-DVD like Planet Earth. I hope it doesn't happen, but I get this weird feeling that it will.

I'll probably pick up Harry Potter tomorrow along with season six of Smallville, even though I was going to hold out until they released all the seasons. I have been picking up a ton of Warner product so trying to do my part (but I do only pick up movies I enjoy, not just to own on Blu).

Will I enjoy Order of the Phoenix if I haven't seen any of the others?

You would probably enjoy Order Of The Phoenix more if you watch the other 4 first.

I got an e-mail Wednesday from the Warner Store that my order for the first 4 movies has shipped. #5 is on order from Amazon and should ship (and deliver) next week.

With my movie collection, I just don't have room for the LE Gift Set.

With these box sets vs. new individual titles that are also a part of the box set, the individual titles always lead the way (SPIDERMAN 3, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, OCEAN'S 13, and now prolly HARRY POTTER 5), and the box set trails along after that.

And, given what we've already seen for quite some time now, Blu wins in both categories by selling the most individual titles and box sets. I would be surprised if we saw any other result with Harry Potter even though it's not exclusive--as OCEAN'S wasn't exclusive.

I bought it, too. Warners makes more money on the box anway. Again, though, whether it's just HP5 or the box, if Blu wins in both categories, as I expect, we'll have contributed our part.

I think your being a realist not a pessimist.

I've hit up gosale.com for the majority of my blu experience 70+ titles. They open there complete blu-ray movie list as a best-selling category, and I've noticed that the HP collection has consistently had the box set around the top ten. However, the separate movies haven't been anywhere near the top 20. are people just looking for a deal? is money no so much an issue (105 dollars for the gift set). I don't know. gosale monitors amazon,tigerdirect,buy.com,ect. for the best prices.

I doubt it. PS3 players are just the type to get into Spiderman and HP. Planet Earth is a different demo. I think you'll see the same breakdown on HP as most other films.

That said, I see no reason for Warner to pick a side anytime soon. I suspect they're happy to make money off both formats for as long as they can. I don't think Warner has any incentive to end this thing on their own.

PS. Just saw the rumor about them going Blu in another thread. Hope it's true. Still, with them already having the infrastructure in place to support both, I'm not holding my breath.
