There were certainly a few moments like that in Resistance... and shockingly enough I found some in Uncharted also, which I didn't expect.

I don't want to say too much... but... yeah. I wasn't expecting the game to go that direction and it gave me chills at moments.

As a side note, again being careful to reveal anything, I'm not particularly sure I liked that direction for Uncharted... but... still an awesome game.

uncharted has a crazy f'ing ending.

bioshock is great to play in the dark, but its only for the 360.

resistance definitely had its moments when i was startled or very leary to see what was awaiting me around a corner. and many times like you mentioned where i would panic and loose control of where i was going or what i was aiming at. weapons switching like crazy and running into walls. aaaaaaaaah! all the lights off with 61" of HD greatness and the volume cranked is something that everyone should experience at least once. Doom III really scared the crap out of me. i mean...i think i almost had either a heart attack, brain anyeurism, or bowel movement at least once every couple of minutes. i would be playing and suddenly just scream out real loud "JESUS CHRIST" and knock the keyboard and mouse off the desk as i flail my arms. the wife would yell upstairs, "are you alright??" sometimes i would have a hard time falling asleep because i was so wigged out from playing and my heart would be racing at 200 BPM.

hahahahahaha that is awesome! i know what part you are talking about...it's that angel creature that looks like an octopus, right? yeah...that was pretty intense. when it yelled into that doorway and left, i thought "crap, now i have to go in there and wait for it to jump at me from the middle of nowhere."
insomniac really did a great job with that game. when a monster can install actual fear in the player...you know a game "has you"

I did the same thing! Playing alone in the dark on a 50" with the sound cranked up. Nearly had a "sharts" moment

BTW, did any of you play RLH (run like hell) a few years back on the PS2?
That damn game used to make me involuntarily launch the controller and I believe it's the reason, to this day, that I still have a nervous disorder

Alien Trilogy on the psx used to scare the crap out of me. Something about the face huggers always creeped me out.

A similar "alien" is in Resistance, but there was always a bunch of them so it was less scary.

Doom3 also had its moments. It annoyed the shit out of me that you couldnt hold a gun and your flashlight at the same time. Of course if you could it would have been a hell of a lot less scary. As it was when it was completely dark and youd throw the flash light on until you saw an enemy, that proceed to switch weapsons and hope te muzzle blast illuminated the area enough to kill them off.

We also shouldnt forget Silent Hill. The dragging scraping sound coming closer and closer def gave goosebumps!

...when your wife prances around in front of the TV naked and seductive...and as you get up and the excitement your wife must feel that you are going to spend some "quality time" with her, and as you lay your hand on her shoulder, you push her the f*ck out of the way!

I remember the first time I almost had a heart attack was when I was playing the first Resident Evil and you are in one of the mansion's hallways and the zombie dobermans jump into the window and attack you. And the time when the first zombie you think is dead gets up and runs after you. I paused the game and put the controller down so I could calm down.

Resistance never startled me.. it is not scary to me. Since you don't die relatively easy I did not find myself being overly careful. Was fun though.. much better 1p than Halo and waaay better weapons.

with an avatar like yours I can understand why you wouldn't get a little freaked out in some parts of rfom. No offense to you. Just your avatar is a little freaky.

I have played alot of shooter games and the only one that came close to making the hair on my neck stand up like RFOM was BioShock. Playing RFOM in a pitch black room on a 60" screen with the 7.1 cranked : is one way I love to show off my system. The picture and sound quality of this game shows the potential of Blu-ray
