Not to be a d***hole, but I just like movies that entertain me. That's it. I don't categorize them or think "this is the best musical with puppets I've ever seen". Give me characters that are interesting, and go from there.

Thoughts on a movie I recently saw: Werewolves Within: Surprisingly, the dialogue was consistently amusing throughout, and I found myself laughing out loud more than I expected to. I also didn't expect to enjoy the character dynamics as much as I did. All in all, I generally prefer straight horror over horror comedies, but this one was extremely entertaining and a whole lot of fun. I'd give it somewhere between a 7 and a half to an 8 out of 10.

  • Movie that I love: Just one? I dunno, I love a lot of them, so I'll drop the latest one I rekindled my adoration for: Independence Day (1996).
  • My favorite action movie: Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).
  • My favorite actor: it's been a toss-up between Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford. If this term isn't gender-specific, then I'd add Audrey Hepburn as well.
  • My favorite fantasy movie: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003).
  • My favorite animated movie: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984).
  • My favorite comedy: Back to the Future (1985).
  • My fave sports movie: Rocky (1976).
  • My most hated movie: August Underground's Mordum (2003).
  • My favorite comic book movie: OldBoy (2003).
  • My most overrated movie: Just for conversation's sake, I'll pick on Casablanca (1942). Gave it two tries and just don't get the hype.
  • Favorite composer: John Williams.
  • Favorite war movie: Lawrence of Arabia (1962).
  • Favorite superhero movie: The Dark Knight (2008).
  • Favorite disney animated movie: Beauty and the Beast (1991).
  • My favorite Disney live action movie: Mary Poppins (1964). Although it is partially animated--if you're looking for 100% live-action, then make it Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003).
  • Favorite universal monster movie: Just the classics? The Invisible Man (1933). If we include reboots, then The Mummy (1999).
  • Favorite anime movie: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984).
  • Favorite sequel: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003).
  • My personal best movie soundtrack: Tough choice. If it's various artists type albums, then maybe The Animatrix (2003). For film scores, however, maybe the complete Lord of the Rings recordings.
  • My favorite score to a movie: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001).
  • My pick for most underrated movie: The Neon Demon (2016).
  • My favorite international movie: The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928).
  • My favorite musical: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971).
  • My favorite slasher: Might be a stretch to call it a slasher, but I think The Terminator (1984) ought to count.
  • Movie that makes me think of my childhood: There are many, and many of them have already been mentioned. Another good one, however, is Gremlins (1984). It would have been the first time I ever went to a theater.
  • My pick for best trilogy: Lord of the Rings (2001 - 2003).
  • Favorite monster movie: The Thing (1982).
  • Favorite zombie movie: Army of Darkness (1992).
  • Favorite franchise: I'm leaning towards Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit), although I also have a very soft spot for the Terminator series, even the bad ones.
  • Favorite vampire movie: Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
  • Favorite werewolf movie: An American Werewolf in London (1982).
  • Movie I can watch over and over again: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
  • Favorite 30s movie: The Wizard of Oz (1939).
  • Favorite 40s movie: Bicycle Thieves (1948).
  • Favorite 50s movie: North By Northwest (1959).
  • Favorite 60s movie: Lawrence of Arabia (1962).
  • Favorite 70s movie: Star Wars (1977).
  • Favorite 80s movie: Koyaanisqatsi (1982).
  • Favorite 90s movie: Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1990).
  • Favorite bad movie: Dune (1984).
  • Favorite courtroom movie: Inherit the Wind (1960).
  • Movie that I am ashamed to admit I love: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017).
  • Guilty pleasure: I have many. One of my top ones is Sucker Punch (2011).
  • Favorite movie of this year: So far, Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021).
  • Favorite demon movie: The Exorcist (1973).
  • Favorite silent movie: The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928).
  • Thoughts on a movie I recently saw: Say Anything (1989) was a lot better than I thought it'd be. It struck me as well-written with just enough dramatic oomph to keep it watchable and emotional.
