I have a featureless "Taken 2" Blu-Ray, got last black Friday from Wal-Mart. Was a bit disappointed with this one since the regular disc also had an unrated cut of the movie while this one doesn't.
From Warner I have The Hangover II, which I got because I didn't want to pay $5 extra for the standard DVD that came with the regular release. There's little or no extras on that, don't remember exactly and too lazy to pull it out right now. Finally I have the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, which was also $5 cheaper and didn't come with a stupid standard DVD. That has one extra with Jackie Earl Haley or whatever his name is talking about playing Freddy. The regular Blu-Ray has a lot more extras but that movie pretty much sucked anyways. Remember seeing a "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" single-disc BD at Wal-Mart but don't know if that had any extras or not. I'd already gotten the regular set cheaper than what they were selling it for anyways. |

Ya know, I'm the type that will typically buy a "deluxe" version of a movie that I like but honestly I rarely end up watching any/all of the special features. I also rarely (if ever) re-watch a movie with commentary audio.
The "collector" in me feels the need to buy the best versions of most movies I like, but truth be told I would be totally fine with a "movie only" version of a blu-ray, especially if it meant a higher bit-rate and superior audio. BTW... Nice thread!! ![]() |

I had no idea there was a movie-only edition of A Good Day to Die Hard. All those extras were what made buying it worthwhile, more so than the movie.
Oh, and Best Buy's Minority Report Steelbook, to my great disappointment, only includes the movie disc from the 2-disc special edition. I never would have bought it had I known that. |

Would The Evil Dead count? I got in on Blu-ray at Wal-Mart a year ago from the $5 bin, only to find it had no extra features (other than a commentary with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell), probably because the disc was crammed with TWO versions of the film (in different aspect ratios). However, there is another edition (with mostly identical packaging) with a bonus DVD disc with bonus features. I was a little annoyed, but I still don't have any plans on double-dipping...
