Default Let The Lion Roar (Blu-ray user review)

Let The Lion Roar (Blu-ray user review)

On 9-19-2014 a Christian documentary called let the Lion Roar was released on home video in a nice collectable box set. The box set contains a worldwide region free Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with a 136 page book called “Escaping The Great Deception”. I read the entire book and watched the entire Blu-ray with extras. The enclosed 480i DVD contains the exact same documentary and extra features that is found on the High Definition Blu-ray disc, and the DVD is only included for those that have not upgraded all their DVD players to Blu-ray players yet.

Let the Lion Roar is a very unique Christian documentary that looks at the conspiracy to cover up the Churches true identity. History from the birth of the Messiah, to Martin Luther’s 99 theses, to the persecution of the Jewish people during World War II is mentioned. This documentary uses scriptures to show how anti-Semitism is morally wrong and how the Great Reformation was sidetracked by those in the church who started hating the Jews (According to the documentary the Reformation is incomplete and needs the proper understanding of God’s love for the Jewish nation). This documentary clearly shows from scriptures that Yeshua (Jesus) loves both Jews and the Gentiles. This documentary was awarded five Doves from the Dove foundation.

Let the Lion Roar shows historical evidence that the Churches foundation is Jewish. Yeshua (Jesus) is Jewish and the disciples are Jewish. Yeshua and his disciples followed the Jewish customs, read from the Torah, and preached in Synagogues. A perfect sinless Jewish Rabbi died on the cross for the sins of the world and then 3 days later rose again from the dead bodily according to the historical record.

Video quality

The Let The Lion Roar 480i DVD version uses 7.6GB of space on the 8.5GB dual layer DVD disc. The legacy DVD is just a lower quality version of the documentary with the exact same extras that one can find on the High Definition Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray version of Let The Lion Roar uses a total of 30.9GB of space on the 50GB dual layer disc. Let the Lion Roar main program and menus are all 1080P quality using the MPEG-4/AVC codec. For some scenes in the documentary the average MPEG-4/AVC bit rate was around 24Mbps. Overall the Red Digital Cinema camera quality was excellent. The documentary has excellent color quality and facial detail. I did not experience any major issues with the video quality.

The Gospel Message of Yeshua is so important for the world that this region free Blu-ray/DVD combo pack is encoded with 19 different language subtitle options.

Audio quality

Let the Lion Roar strong point is its audio quality. The main program, all the menus, and 100% of the extra features is bit for bit exactly the same as the studio master soundtrack. The main programs default audio is studio master 2.0 LPCM stereo, however in the setup menu those consumers that own surround sound systems can change the audio to 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio. 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio becomes 5.1 PCM studio master audio when the Blu-ray player or A/V receiver unzips the lossless DTS-HD Master audio file from the Blu-ray disc.

Overall the English 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack mix sounded very good with easy to understand dialogue coming from the center speaker and nice surround sound from the rear speakers. However what was disappointing about the 5.1 lossless mix is that it really was only a 5.0 mix since at no time during the 65 minute documentary did I hear the subwoofer channel become active. It would have been ideal for the sound engineer for Let The Lion Roar to mix in a few subwoofer bass activity effects once and awhile. Since this is a documentary and not an action packed movie, subwoofer activity is less of an issue.

Bonus Features

For me some of the bonus features were more interesting than the documentary. 100% of the bonus features uses the MPEG-4/AVC codec with either 1080P or 1080i. 100% of the bonus features is encoded with studio master 2.0 LPCM audio. Its nice having lossless PCM audio for bonus features, very few Blu-ray discs offer this level of quality for bonus features. Behind the Roar Documentary is 1080P and lasts 53 minutes and 19 seconds, The Actors Speak Featurette is 1080i and lasts 23 minutes and 3 seconds, Behind The Seams Featurette is 1080i and lasts 6 minutes and 52 seconds, Let The Lion Roar Music Video is 1080P and lasts 3 minutes and 27 seconds, Jerusalem Of Gold Music Video is 1080P and lasts 5 minutes and 51 seconds, and Let The Lion Roar Trailer is 1080P and lasts 1 minute and 54 seconds.

Conclusion

Let the Lion Roar has an important message that the Reformation of the Church needs to be completed in regards to the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. This documentary shows that according to scriptures God loves both the Jewish people and Gentiles in the Church. The Churches foundation comes from a Jewish Messiah who created the entire Universe. According to the scriptures, every human being came from Adam and Eve which also means we are all from the exact same race. The video quality and lossless audio quality for Let the Lion Roar is excellent. This Blu-ray also contains some interesting extra features.
