Too many! I feel like they're taking up so much of the yearly slate of big blockbuster movies and serious repetition is starting to set in. The studios are churning endless comic book movies and superhero movies out and from my perspective serious fatigue is starting to set in. Don't get me wrong, i don't dislike the genre and have really enjoyed some recent ones (Iron Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy). In general though it just seems too much and coupled with studios desires to build a cinematic universe, which means we can't have genuine standalone movies anymore it's starting to grate. I can't show a movie like Ant-Man to my dad as is because there's stuff in it he needs to understand from other movies he hasn't seen, like Avengers for example. I think this desire to link everything together is hurting the genre for casual fans and the overwhelming amount of these movies coming out starts to make the blockbuster slate for the year look pretty dull and predictable. I know there are many comic book fans here but surely i can't be the only one getting fed up with the excessive amount of superhero movies. I wonder when this cycle will end.

I mean I'm all for batman, spiderman, X-men etc. But come on now Ant man??? That's just scraping the bottom of the barrel. It's getting out of hand. The only thing I'll say in support of superhero movies even though I'm not a big fan. At least they make money. I want theaters to make as much money as possible. Will be a damn shame if we ever lose the theater experience and all we got is digital b.s. Can you imagine "quentin tarantino announces his new film the hateful eight coming to a tablet near you." Got Arnold!!

There's a thousand movies that come out every year and only like a max of seven of them are comic book related. You could just not watch em fam.

I agree about the "cinematic universe" thing, it was cute at first, but it got old fast, and basically it's franchises within a franchise, and not standalone movies that happen to be in the same universe, and maybe cross over once in a while, key word: once in a while. but nooo they had to over do it, and expand it to the tv too, it's really hard to keep up with the MCU now
I wouldn't complain if every entry was as strong as the The Winter Soldier, but honestly 70% of them are just mediocre (at best) |

There's enough blockbusters too, but the last few years have been terrible blockbuster-wise.

The blockbuster slate would look just as dull without them. We're living in the most creatively inept periods in Hollywood. We'd just get more inferior remakes/reboots in their place. And it's not like Marvel studios is preventing any films from getting made since the reason for that studio to exist is to make superhero films.
While there is an influx of comic books films, I think they are spread out nicely over the year. A few for each season. This year's lineup in particular has some diversity. And it wasn't even 2 years ago that arguably the 3 best blockbusters of 2014 were superhero films: Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: Winter Solider Anyways, they shouldn't bother you too much. It's up to you to be selective with what you watch and to be diverse with your choices, even with films that don't end up getting released in 3000 theaters (which would still be the case without superhero films). |

Personally, im all for superhero movies. I like the way each movie is kinda joined with one another, I like reading rumors/fan theories (from actual comic book fans) of future movies
I dont read any comics, but its a genre/subject that interests me |

Also, and this is more to the point in some ways, there's no one forcing you to go see them. I mean, typically I don't like rom-coms. So I don't go see them usually. If you're tired of comic book adaptations, choose a different film to go see or watch or buy. Man, I wish I weren't out of "Thanks" right now. But yeah, thanks. |

My main problem is that big budget blockbusters are my bread and butter, i love big action/ fx movies. I just wish so many of the ones coming out were comic book movies.

sadly, I'll do too.
at least I'll watch the 2016 releases, but I'll definitely jump ship if the movies were on par with Age of Ultron, Man of Steel and the Thor movies I don't have a problem with the genre, it's the quality and quantity. having so many subpar sequels is a nightmare for a completist |
