Official FR4ME Packaging Thread

By popular demand (or maybe just Rick's ), I've created a thread for Blu-ray releases that come in Fr4me™ packaging. What's that you ask? It's a fairly new type of packaging made by Scanavo (same folks behind the Steelbook) that's aimed at collectors.

As the name implies, Fr4me packaging is designed to act like a frame, allowing you to customize the front, back, and inside with different inserts (multiple choices are included). The cases come in an assortment of colors that usually matches the relevant colors/themes the film (e.g. Despicable Me is yellow), and are made of durable ABS plastic. Nice work in starting the thread.

I'm yet to be sold on the concept. I have read a few buyers stating that the packaging looks a little disappointing in hand. However it's good to see companies experimenting with the product, and if they think along Kimchi PA lines going forward these few releases might be viewed as early prototypes of a quality line?

The JP release of Blade Runner comes with a Spinner car too, pretty cool.

My AmazonJP shipment arrived today, which included all 5 Fr4me releases. I was a little surprised to see such a big shipping box for 7 BDs, and was a little alarmed when I saw the big Blade Runner box inside. I, totally, forgot the Blade Runner Fr4me came with a replica spinner car, housed in a very nice display box. I will post pics a little later.

They are all G2 except True Romance which was G1 sized.

They look like novelty items that comes and go. The only one I might have any interest is the Dark Knight from Japan.

For what it is worth, just tested out the Blade Runner one and it is Region B friendly. Dunno how to update the entry but right now it still states B & C as "untested".

I wonder if that applies to all the Japanese ones, as I'd love that Blade and Blade II set as well.

I really like this packaging. I hope more are released. It's a shame more people don't like them.

I have a new Blade/Blade II that I'd like to trade for a Gremlins/Gremlins 2. Any takers?
