Default Having your player in "pause" for long time

How badly does pressing pause on your blu ray player and then leaving it on for relatively long periods of time affect the lifespan of a player as opposed to turning it off completely.

I do this for some blu rays, mainly Universal ones because they don't have auto-resume feature and it takes several minutes of menu browsing from turning the player on to wathing the movie.

I would be more concerned of the image burning on the LCD then the Blu-ray being on pause.

Pause the player and turn off the TV, then turn it back on when you're ready to unpause.

My OPPO goes into a screen-saving mode once a movie's been paused past a few minutes. In addition, I can turn the display of my Sony TV off while the TV is still "on" (I love this feature!).

I have it all programmed into a macro/sequence of my Harmony remote. So the movie pauses, the TV screen goes black, and the AVR mutes, essentially putting everything into a "hot standby" mode with a single button-press. Since all the devices are still connected, I don't have to wait for the TV to power backup and re-negotiate the HDCP handshake getting everything back up, so it's a seamless, near-instantaneous process.
