Question about USB HD & PS3... - Blu-ray Forum

Hello,

I just recently bought a WD My Book 500 gig USB HD. Extremely easy to setup.. but my question is; will I be able to install demos and games on the hardddrive and run games directly off it?

Any help regarding this is greatly appreciated

No, no and no. You can play music, video and view pictures off it, backup saves to it and backup games to it with a full system backup.

What it sounds like you want to do is upgrade the storage inside your PS3.
To do that you need to buy any 2.5" drive (I believe the largest is 250GB), and replace the existing one. It is easy and does not void anything.
With an external drive, you can only store things. So you can have a backup of your system, you can store music, movies, pictures and view/watch/listen to them.
