Question What is this film?
Sorry if a thread exists for such questions.

I once saw about 15 years ago an old black and white film. It might have been a detective genre, but anyway, it was set in a big house and there was a killer. I remember the ending - someone shot someone in the basement of the house/manor, and it was revealed later in the film to be a blank shot.

Does anyone know what film this is?
