Default Does anyone here have 12mbps Windstream DSL Internet?

Hey All,

I am considering switching from Time Warner Cable to Windstream internet mainly because Windstream offers free ESPN3 access whereas TWC makes you also pay for a cable package (which I do not have), to be able to access ESPN3. The prices are basically the same. My main question is is the 12mbps speed sufficient for gaming, and streaming (ESPN3, hulu, netflix, etc.)?

Thanks in advance,

p.s. I've heard windstream has bad customer service but so does time warner, so I'm not sure that'd be an issue for me.

I personally would never pick a DSL based system over a cable based internet system if I had to choose. The max speed you will receive via DSL is going to be ultimately based on how far you are from the telco switch as well.

Thumbs down Old Lady Internet

My mom has DSL and refuses to switch to TWC. When I stayed with her for a couple years the internet was useless @ 12mbps. I did speedtest.net a couple times several months apart and it was an appalling 2mb up .3mb down. this was from a loose wire that took 2 tech rep visits to find. Guess the first rep was in a hurry.

Then after several months it seemed to have slowed down again so I speedtested it @ 7.7mb down and .6 mb up. I'm pretty sure they were throttling because after a few calls one rep said they'd fix it and a few minutes later it was back up to the 11.8 down .78 up she pays for. But even at it's top speed you never perform the way you do on TWC even if it's just fast enough to not really notice the lag.

Windstream is for old lady's that only look at pictures and short youtube videos. It is useless and enraging to anyone who plays games or movies.
