I don't understand why Disney releases 3D copies of some of their films in the US but did not release a 3D version of one of their biggest movies in years (Frozen).

Such a wonderful film with a great, original story and jaw dropping visuals, particularly the water. 4.5/5

Day one purchase.

Would be nice if the 3D Blu-ray of Disney's Moana would come in an actual 3-disc case for once, instead of one of those "stacker" cases like they used for Zootopia...

Because the VUDU 3D exclusivity has apparently been expired, so starting from the films from this year do we get 3D releases (not all, of course).

I wish I could tell you for sure, I've only heard a rumor it has something to do with a two-year licensing agreement with a streaming service (Hulu, I think, or maybe Vudu, don't remember, this was a while back).

EDIT

Looks like Harry in the post above knows what's up.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of those, either.

Who wants to bet we'll get 30 minutes' worth of fluffy, kid-friendly EPKs, a music video, a few deleted scene scraps in storyboard format, and no commentary?

The only thing that I hope doesn't return is if you recall, the digital copy was reserved for the 3D sets only. I hope they don't do that again.

Just finished seeing this, day one purchase for me. I loved everything about it- especially the soundtrack. I look forward to watching this multiple times lol.

Moana...gorgeous animation. Story? Kinda boring. Liked it more than Frozen, but still walked out with a bit of a shrug. It's the same movie these guys have been making since the late 80's. Not saying formula is bad. The James Bond crew keep making the same James Bond movie again and again and again, but this is what Moana felt like. Beautiful tech. Same story. It's getting old (or maybe I am). Songs? Very obvious attempt at a "Let It Go" recycling, but it ain't gonna work this time. Zeitgeist is the zeitgeist for a reason, and if anything was zeitgeist, it was "Let It Go". Which I can't stand. Disney didn't just run that into the ground, they rammed it into the Earth's core.

Back to Moana...that lava monster god in the third act is something else. Amazing. Very Fantasia 2000, but amazing.

So...not a bad movie, but if you're my age, it's a movie you've already seen, countless times. Gorgeous. But...you've already seen it before you bought your ticket.

I want to believe Disney is no longer being cheap after giving actual decent bonus features for their later releases. I could be wrong, but they might break the cycle for this film.

Sure, but How Far I'll Go >>>>>>>>>>>> Let It Go, and I love Let it Go. It's the best Disney Princess anthem/musical mission statement since Part of Your World.

And yes, the movie is formulaic, but it works and is absoluteky perfect for the times we live in

There's a lot to love about this movie, and something I just thought of is that it's the first WDAS release in a while that didn't have a "twist" villain at the end.

My favorite scene is when the lava monster is crawling towards Moana. So beautiful.
