Mighty Peking Man

Screened this last night. It was a lot of fun. There's nothing like really fake looking miniatures, over the top acting, and bad rear projection of a guy in a monkey suit... oh yeah and a hot nearly naked girl! The romantic interlude in the middle of the movie was laugh out loud funny. Great fire effects at the end too. Looked Mighty unsafe for the Peking Man and the crew too.

Good deal for the price. I'll actually probably pull this one out at parties. It's a good popcorner.

Still trying to find out who has the better transfer, 88 films or the German release.

It's one of the amazing things about kaiju movies. I always have a vision of a casting session with the stuntman in the suit:

"Okay, so you'll be in a suit with limited mobility, no visibility and which is so hot you'll sweat out several pounds a day and pass out from dehydration if you need to keep the head on for more than 15 minutes at a time. And then we're going to fire live fireworks at you while dozens of squibs and controlled explosions go off on the outside of the suit, which is getting a bit old because we've already used it for three other movies, but the other guys who used it weren't in hospital for more than a week, so it should still offer a bit of protection. Oh, and it's union minimum pay, no healthcare insurance and you won't get a screen credit. Can you start this afternoon?"

I can't imagine the German one looking better. The 88 Films transfer looks better than I would ever expect. They're probably the same transfer though.

they all look the same, of course. it's just encoding differences if you find any.
