Ok, so I blew a tax refund at age 24 and bought a 70 inch Sharp 3DTV. It's still great, and I love it. That was 3 years ago, and I am still trying to afford to move out of my parents. (crickets). I really want to do it, but it means getting a smaller set.
Anyway, it has recently occurred to me that as fun as a big TV is, a 70 inch won't fit in any apartment I can afford within the next year. I'll be lucky if I can afford a studio. Any advice on what to do in getting a smaller TV? I'm thinking it would be in the 42 inch vein. I mean, they even make 4KTVs in that size, but how about 3D? I have 30 3D films. I'd hate to lose my ability to watch them, but it's not the end of the world. Maybe something like this? http://www.sears.com/sceptre-e425bv-...&mktRedirect=y Again, this is in semi distant future, but I want to start planning Last edited by obriensg1; 06-24-2015 at 06:24 PM. It may seem like going from one extreme to another, but you should
try this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-24-LED-...item3aa5751a57 |

Keep it. Make it work. All you need is that TV and a bed or a pull out couch. There are also pull out love seats.
![]() Its not the size of the TV or the size of the room but the viewing distance that is important. As long as you can get 10 feet between that 70" screen and your eyeballs you are good. |

I would agree with E55 KEV. You would be amazed how much stuff you can fit even in a small studio apartment. For instance in San Francisco I have a 300 sq ft Studio efficiency (about the size of my old bedroom from when I lived in Arizona) and I have a 55" tv and full size tower Front as well as a full 7.1 Ch surround sound setup with massive sub in my apartment. that also includes a dining room table a bed several booksehlves, and an office desk also a recliner. God I hate california and wish i could go back home

I do but thats because I put the bed in the middle of a wall and it sets between my desk (office chair) and my Entertainment center at the front of my room. Trust me if I were you I would continue to save up your money for other stuff instead of trying to buy a smaller new TV. I genuinely think you could make that awsome monster work in a smaller pad. I know I am going to try next year I am really considering an 85" in my apartment

10 feet is just a typicall recommendation for a 70" screen. If you sitting closer than that and enjoying it then you really should keep it. Sounds like you will be all right in your studio apartment and the 70.

if you can fit it through the door, it's not too big!

Unless you need to sell the TV, keep it.

When the carton arrives, everyone thinks the TV is too damned big. After a few weeks, everyone thinks the TV is too small.
I live in an apartment. When my 55" arrived, I almost made the delivery people take it back. I actually broke out in sweats. Now I think it's too small. If you move into one of those modern towers where most of the walls are floor-to-ceiling glass, you might have a problem. But in any other kind of situation, mount it on the wall and you'll be fine. You'll never be happy with a 42" set, especially if much of your viewing is movies. |

It depends on the size of the room. If the room is too small to even fit a 70" HDTV, it can be too big and overwhelming. Unless it's being mounted on the wall, you're not going to have any room to put anything else!

If you've been using this monster for 3 years already then just give up on the idea of trying to step down in size. You will NEVER enjoy a smaller display now!!!! Those days are over for ya bro! I have 70, a 65, and a 55, and the 55 although it's a decent size, just looks tiny in comparison to the other 2!! You can make the 70 inch work, trust me!
