Just a question: I haven't sold anything on Amazon Marketplace in a while and I just put up a few Blu-rays up for sale. For destination I always use the default "domestic delivery only" option. I've just sold an item and when I checked the order it turns out that the buyer is in France. That shouldn't be possible or has something changed for sellers on Amazon recently ? I'm not really willing to send this to France as the postage would wipe out most of my earnings. And I don't want a bad rating if I refuse, I still have a 100% positive rating.

I'm not aware of any changes so I would take it up with Amazon. Mind you, with all these recent EU account verification steps we've had to do, they may well have made a change. As you say, with their somewhat low fixed shipping prices it makes it a complete waste of time to ship abroad!

How much is shipping to France from the UK - have you checked? You may find it may not cost much in your case since the item is shipping within Europe. I have an Amazon store but I don't ship to overseas locations mainly due to avoid the hassle of filling out forms and having to stand in line at the Post Office (I use a self-service kiosk for most items).

Please keep us updated Todd as Id like to know about this should it happen to me!
I never know if its possible to change the postage rate on Amazon - I havent seen a way to change it anyway. A bit silly when you are selling something clearly well over the usual postage rate like a boxset for instance. Got to say though that I have found Amazon FAR better than Ebay for selling stuff, not one problem in the last 5 years. Unlike Ebay... EDIT - you can always withdraw your sale - I had to once as somehow the one item I had got sold to two different buyers so I had to give preference to the first one! |
