Default Ultimate Spider-Man

The centerpiece of an upcoming Marvel programming block on Disney XD, this animated series from Marvel follows Peter Parker who, as the storyline begins, has been Spider-Man for just one year. He’s fought villains, saved lives, but still has much to learn about being a super-hero. Now, Nick Fury gives Peter the chance to go to the next level — to train to be a real super-hero and become The Ultimate Spider-Man. But before he can do that, Peter will have to learn how to work with a team of fellow teenage super-heroes

Didn't see a thread for this but is anyone else really looking forward to this show? I can't wait for it to air and love how they got JK Simmons to voice J. Jonah.

Test footage was released today which looks amazing.

According to the final frame of that footage you have another year to wait, for a cartoon. Doesn't that seem like a long damn time for an animated tv show?

Yeah I hated when it said 2012 as I thought it was airing this Summer. Seems to be taking a really long time as I think this show was announced last year and we are now just starting to get info.

The delay to get the show onto Disney XD may have to do with a desire to tie it into the release of the Amazing Spider-Man movie.

Wow, that animation looks incredible. That is approaching the quality of a theatrical feature with fantastic design work. Spider-Man looks and moves perfect in it, though the brief snippet of his voice was average. I detest how Marvel now tries to inject Nick Fury into every Marvel superhero's story. He should not be part of a Spider-Man series at all. The guy was a third-string character for decades until they decided to change his ethnicity and cast Samuel Jackson in the role.

I understood why the Looney tunes cartoons took so long since they where 3D and took a lot of extra work, but what happened to those updated weekly shows? They where supposed to debut early this year and it's been since summer that I've heard anything...

Got to agree some of the best animation I have seen for a show. Also disappointed when Fury came on screen as now they are just shoving him into every Marvel movie/show it seems.

You do know that Nick Fury in the Ultimate Universe was actually based on Sam Jackson right...? That's how he got the part. Honestly, I don't mind that they're adding Nick Fury to this for the fact that if I can't see Spider-Man in Marvel's movie universe interacting with other characters, then at least Marvel is doing it with this cartoon. I can live with that.

What about the Nick Fury from decades before? I can't believe they recast someone as talented as David "I like to drunkenly eat burgers off my hotel floor" Hasselhoff for Sam "I like to scream at the end of my sentences for attention" Jackson.

Yes, I am aware of the original Ultimate version of Nick Fury and how the artist drew him like Samuel Jackson. Marvel foists him into every single multimedia property they produce, he shows up now more than popular characters like Wolverine or the Hulk.

Honestly, my only other choice for Nick Fury would have been Kurt Russel, had they gone with 616 Fury. But since they didn't I don't mind Sam Jackson's casting as Ultimate Fury. I can live with it. One thing I can definitely agree with though, is Fury needs to be significantly toned down in Marvel's productions because they seem to be putting him everywhere. I guess they're just trying to make him seem significant.

Video has been removed.

I've heard about this project and was looking forward to seeing videos or artwork. 2012 is a long wait though.

New promo pic and voice cast. Really wish it was coming this year and not next but it's looking good.

Voice cast:

J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson

Vincent Martella as Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

Cindy Robinson as Mary Jane Watson

Marvel's Head Of Television, Jeph Loeb, Talks More About Ultimate Spider-Man!

Quote:
IGN have released more quotes from the latest quarterly publication of "D23: The Official Disney Fan Club", this time featuring Jeph Loeb talking about the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. While the title of the show provoked many fans who aren't all that keen on the comic book series of the same name, the recently leaked test footage seemingly changed a lot of peoples minds.

"We have an incredible writing staff including Brian Michael Bendis who has written every single issue of Ultimate Spider Man, more than 150 issues in 10 years, Paul Dini, and Man of Action."

"What we're doing is putting together the coolest Spider-Man animated series that we can. This is a first step in what we want to define as Marvel animation and will capture the look and feel of the comics as the movies have captured the look and feel of the comics."

"Like the comic and the upcoming movie, we're dealing with Peter Parker in high school, trying to balance his life between being a normal teenager and becoming the ultimate Spider-Man. This is the story of Spider-Man trying to become the best hero that he can. And work his way up to the major league guys like Captain American and Iron Man and The Avengers."

Marvel's head of television apparently wrapped up the interview with the promise of more great things to come next year ("2012 is when they're going to get to see this incredibly awesome stuff that we've been working on.") so perhaps we'll be getting news of those live action TV shows sooner rather than later! To read more, head on over to the site by clicking below, and be sure to sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

Clark Gregg To Play Agent Coulson In Ultimate Spider-Man; First Footage Description!

Quote:
The Marvel Studios S.H.I.E.L.D agent has joined the cast of Ultimate Spider-Man, as have a few other actors involved with live action superhero movies. Details on that as well as the first awesome sounding footage here...
Following the fantastic news that Marvel TV are moving ahead with live action series' featuring Jessica Jones, Hulk, Cloak & Dagger and Mockingbird, Jeph Loeb then introduced the first footage from the upcoming Disney XD Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. Below is both a description of that (courtesy of our friends over at Comic Book Resources) as well as some pretty exciting casting news! Be sure to head on over to the site by clicking on the link below for more.

Loeb then played a sizzle for "USM," with behind-the-scenes footage featuring some of the show's talent. Stan Lee came up first, grinning "Spider-Man!" The first bit of animation was a split screen of MJ splitting carrots while Spidey fights off bad guys, talking on the phone. Following some action, Peter is shown sewing his costume, looking to the camera and saying, "What?" Spidey fights Venom, and there were several comic-esque visual effects

Drake Bell spoke about playing Spider-Man, "It's great playing a super-hero who's so iconic."

Stan Lee plays Stan the Janitor and will have a recurring role.

Nick Fury is played by Chi McBride and will mentor him into the "Ultimate Spider-Man."

Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson. Coulson will also be the principle.

JK SImmons = JJJ, as he is on film, and Stephen Webber is Norman Osborn, "a powerful industrial who a grudge with Spider-Man."

As the footage ended, Loeb said "everyone who was involved in the casting process chose one person." Drake Bell then joined Loeb on stage. Bell said he was seeing the sizzle reel for the first time and was overjoyed to see his voice with the character. Loeb then premiered the trailer for the show, as well.

J. Jonah Jameson began with a voice over condemning Spidey, as the web-slinger himself fights Elektro, then Venom, followed by Doctor Doom. He also teams up with Avengers and is chased through the NYC subway by an octopus-like robot.

"Our hope is that it looks different from any Spider-Man show you've seen before," Loeb said once the trailer concluded.

"Being a fan of the comics and something we've never had in animation before is Spider-Ham," Bell said, adding that the snorts were a lot of fun.

Artists contributing the look of the show included Stuart Immonen, Humberto Ramos, and Joe Quesada, who provided drawings of the characters to the animation team. Loeb acknowledged the late Spider-Ham creator Mike Wieringo.

I love that Coulson is going to be in this with Gregg doing the voice. I'm really looking forward to seeing this. The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is really well done, so I'm hoping this will be too.

Looks like Marvel is finally trying to tie the films to the comics, cartoons, etc....and I couldn't be happier. We need just ONE linear continuity.
