United Kingdom 24 Hour Party People

I just wanted to give people a heads-up regarding the Works Film Group release of 24 Hour Party People. It was originally scheduled for the 02/10/2017, but I've now had direct confirmation via email that it won't be released until 2018.

Thank you for your inquiry and your interest in 24 Hour Party People.

Unfortunately the release date has been delayed until 2018 although we do not have a confirmed date as yet.

Please contact us again later in the year and we will update accordingly.

Kind regards

Franziska

It's a real shame! I was really looking forward to this one.

Can’t see this being much of an upgrade, as it was filmed on digital video. Also the Uk dvd 2 disc release has all this and I can’t see it all being on the blu ray, and most of it it’s top quality extras -

Audio commentary by producer Andrew Eaton and actor Steve Coogan
Audio commentary by the Real Tony Wilson
"Sleeve Notes" trivia text commentary (Who's Who In 24 Hour Party People)
24 Deleted scenes
"Pills N Thrills & Bellyaches" interviews
Theatrical trailer
New Order: "Here to Stay'" music video

"From the Factory Floor" - pip commentary (entire film) By Artists And Friends From The Era Including Peter Hook, Rowetta, Leroy Richardson, Bruce Mitchell, Miranda Sawyer, Bob Langley and Martin Mos top
"Portrait of a Filmmaker" featurette
Peter Saville Gallery - Posters & Album Covers With Commentary by Tony Wilson and Peter Saville

I've been holding onto my DVD of this as the extras are quality. Pathe paid for the extras and I doubt the new distributor would be stumping up the cash to license them sadly.

It could still look better on BD than on DVD. 28 Days Later looks better on BD, just because there's so much less compression.

I love Winterbottom, so I'm excited to see this make it to BD.

Default 24 Hour Party People Blu-ray

Any update on the 24HPP BR? I’m desperate to own this! Incidentally, this is available in HD through iTunes, and it does indeed look better (noticeably sharper) than the SD DVD. It’s unclear whether it’s in 720P or 1080P when viewing on my Apple TV (I should probably try watching on my Mac- which would make it easy to confirm). Unfortunately it lacks a 5.1 soundtrack for some reason. The sound is only 2-channel stereo. This is why I *NEED* the Blu-ray!

Gotta love the deleted scene of New Order forming in the Dry Bar which wasn't built for another decade or so with the Trams from 1991/92 in the background.

Those ****ing Metrolink trams that didn't come into service until 1991 (Wikipedia says 1992) are the first thing I think of when I think of this film.

If they do they'll probably re-dub it into 'Manchesteresque' easier to understand accents and add subtitles

There's just been an announcement for this on Blu-Ray over on the North America section of this site. Being released by MDV Marquee Collection. I dunno anything about them, or if that means Region A but id presume it is. But thought id spread the news anyway for whom ever it may be of intrest to.

Just look at the reviews for some of their releases like Basic Instict 2 or Windtalkers. Although they can be new encodes of that master like Walking Tall.

They used reuse whatever existing master is lying around. Their main selling point seems to be they include as many of the legacy extras as they can. Many of their releases to date have been to upgrade MGM BDs from the early days which were released extras free so they are now including all the old DVD extras.

This was when MGM used to bundle the old DVD with the BD so you still got the extras. Is actually very like UHD today where very few studios include the extras on the UHD disk hence why the bundle the BD with extras in the package.
