Default Anybody buy/play Pinball Arcade (physical copy)

Has anybody bought the physical game? The reviews seem good on it.
Here's the link to the physical game I'm talking about? -> http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GZ1H07Y
If you have it and played it what's your thoughts?

The game itself is good if your into the "real" classic pinball tables. I thought about getting the physical copy but had no clue it was being released so bought the digital along with season pass. If all them tables are offered up in the physical copy, I'd say its worth $40

I bought the disc soon after it became available back in December and really enjoy it. Really took me back playing Gorgar and Black Knight. Used to play them at the corner store in my neighborhood when I was a kid.

IGN.com gave the game a really high recommendation. It is everything that the review states. I only have two (minor) gripes with the game. One is that they use the L1 & L2 buttons for the flippers, and it would have been better suited for the lower L2 & R2. Second, most of the tables (so far) are from the late 80s and early 90s. It seems that they liked to show off the bells and whistles from that era. I would have like to have seen more tables from the 60s and 70s.

All in all the game play is excellent, I actually prefer it to Zen Pinball's more video game like feel.

Agree 110%! The lower buttons are so much better suited to being flippers. That's one thing Zen Pinball definitely got right. I keep hoping they'll release a patch for Pinball Arcade to give the user the option to switch control from the upper to lower buttons.

Otherwise, Pinball Arcade is an absolute stunner of a pinball simulator and it utterly shines on the PS4!

I don't think you could expect a video game simulator of pinball to play more realistically.

If you are not somebody that would go crazy with digital over physical like me you are better downloading it (The free version also has one table so you could try out the game). You don't get the pro tables with the retail disc even though digitally it is cheaper to get the season 1 pro table pack. Not sure what they were thinking with that

I already owned all the tables on PS3 and Vita, but the dynamic lighting really sold me on getting the PS4 version. It really adds a lot to the experience.

For those that don't know, if you go into the options, there's an option to change the room brightness between bright-neutral-dark. I love playing it on "dark," it really takes me back to the days of playing tables like Taxi at the smoky mall arcade (minus the cigarette smoke, of course).

Last night I discovered with the Pinball Arcade update that came out this week, the control scheme has been revised. Now you can select between the top or BOTTOM buttons for use as flippers. L2 and R2 feel much more natural to me. This change makes a fantastic pinball sim even better!

I did the update with the two new tables and the controller changes, but it won't let me buy the new tables and the L2/R2 aren't working yet?

Hmm.. You say DLC is involved with this update? That's cool. I checked & came up with nothing in the PS Store.

You have to make the change in the main screen settings, not in an individual table options (the change is global for all tables).

Hey Derb!
Yeah, I didn't see the DLC in the store either.
The two new ones are listed under Season 3 in the game menu.
I wanna play em, but no dice yet.

My PS4 automatically installed the update when I turned it on. I didn't go to the PS Store. IIRC, the new DLC shows up as free-to-play tables in season 3.

Cool. Thanks bud! What about the tables?

Edit: Saw your post above. It still won't let me buy/play the tables and L2/R2 is indicated in the options menu but not working.
Are you playing the digital download or the disc-based?

That's what I got which became unavailable in PS Store shortly after. Should I expect anything new with that purchase with the update?

Derb, That's the same one I bought back then, also.
The new tables are listed under Season 3 though.

I'm using the digital copy and I can play the new tables in the trial mode. Since they show up as an add-on for purchase at the store today, maybe they weren't allowing the demos to be played until they were ready at the store. So, I went to the Table 3 area, chose the first table listed, it went through a connecting process, brought up a menu that allowed me to purchase the tables or play the trial.

Also went in and tried changing the flipper config from L1/R1 to L2/R2 and that worked for me. It was a little confusing though. When I went to the Options area of the main menu, all it did there was show a picture of the controller and made it look like either config would work. When it didn't, I hit the options button while playing a demo table, went in to the settings menu and saw the option to change it there. The first item they list is controls but all that shows is the picture and button layout. You have to go into the settings to change the button config.

Thanks for the info owa.

Everything works now! The store finally updated to show that I can purchase the new tables.
It was just odd that the game updated yesterday and I couldn't do anything related to the update till today.
