Default Favorite Producers...

The musicians get all the love, but what about the record producers? They play an intregal part in the success of the artists. What are some of your favorite all time record producers. Here are a few of mine in no particular order...

Sam Phillips - Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis. Nuff said!

Rick Hall - The Father of the "Muscle Shoals Sound" that came out of Muscle Shoals Alabama. Helped to put artists like Etta James, Wilson Picket, Aretha Franklin, Percy Sledge, Clarence Carter, etc

Phil Specter - Pioneered "the wall of sound" technique.

Quincy Jones - 55 years in the business. 79 Grammy nominations. On the list for Thriller alone.

Brian Wilson - Few consider quite how groundbreaking Brian Wilson’s studio techniques were in the mid-60s. Hand written notations, multi-track experimentation, flirtations with echoes and reverb and the concept of the studio itself as an instrument.

Bob Ezrin - Always viewed the studio as an instrument unto itelf. Produced some fantastic, legendary albums such as Pink Floyd's The Wall, Alice Cooper's Welcome To My Nightmare and Billion Dollar Babies, KISS' Destroyer, etc.

Mutt Lange - A true perfectionist who built albums brick by brick. Produced Foreigner, Def Leppard, ACDC, Shania Twain, Hughey Lewis and the News, Maroon 5, Nickelback, The Boomtown Rats, etc.

Martin Birch - Produced Iron Maiden's incredible run of great albums in the 80's.

Rick Rubin - What can I say about this guy? He's simply produced some of the best albums from some of my favorite artists! Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slipknot, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, etc.
