Default Outlaw 990/7700 Powering Off

Most unusual situation and it has me stumped. I have the Outlaw 990/7700 combination, and last night all was fine in my world. This morning I turned everything on to watch the news, and the Outlaws turned themselves off. Came on briefly for about 10 seconds and then shut off. I checked my power center and no warnings or noises (it does that when there's an issue). So I check all my connections to make sure everything was tight and not causing a short. Everything fine. Unplugged the two Outlaws and let them sit for a while, replugged and same thing. So I figured not so bad, wanted the Onkyo 805 anyway, so here's my chance.

I went back a little later and, under my breath, said "One more time Outlaw, or your going to the knackers yard." Both powered up and stayed on. Can't figure out what the problem was. Again, all connections were fine (nothing loose or dodgy). Power center said power was fine and coming in fine. No wires touching anything else.

Anyone have a clue? Never had anything like this happen before when it would come back to life. Usually, once it does that, it's dead and either gets tossed out or sent in for repair.

Sounds familiar. I went to grab a remote from on top of one of the components, and I gave my self a shock. The receiver cut off, but all other components remained on, and the surge protector stayed normal. After that, I would turn the receiver on, the panel woud say "protected mode" and shut itself off. After powering off and unplugging the receiver for about 15 minutes, it was fine. Moral is to discharge your static this time of year, before touching your electronics.

Well I'm hoping the problem cured itself, although I was kind of looking forward to replacing the 990 with a new Onkyo. And I wasn't looking forward to crating this monster up and shipping it back to Outlaw for service.

But it does cause me a little concern as to what would cause it to do that. I'll double check my connections again just to rule out the possibility of something not being right there and causing a bigger problem later down the line.

Just to update, in case anyone is interested or has a similar problem sometime. A bad Monster 2500 power center is to blame for the on/off taking place with the Outlaws. It's since been replaced and all is fine (bought a Panamax this time).
