United Kingdom Home Fires and Indian Summers -- more UK TV only coming abroad

In the States, PBS will begin airing the first series of Home Fires in October, followed shortly by a DVD and Blu-ray release. In the UK, ITV have given it their usual kiss of death by releasing it themselves, obviously on DVD only.

Similarly, the Julie Walters-helmed Indian Summers, was apparently pulled from UK BD by Acorn (who subsequently released it on DVD only) and will also debut on BD from PBS in the States next month.

We have seen great output from the BBC this summer, with some wrongs righted, and hugely popular series like Luther finally presented on BD. I might consider a pass for Acorn, as they are a small company, and they do make a noble effort with UK TV BDs.

The real problem here is ITV, who, even in 2015, seem content to put everything on DVD (Home Fires being just one example), while even their major series like Cracker, Foyle's War Poirot and Prime Suspect languish unreleased or only as imports.

Come on ITV, get in the game again, please.
