Downloaded our first 4k "Groundhog Day" on the Sony FMP-X1

We bought it. The picture is great except for motion. We are going to try a few setting changes for that.

The voices are not in the front center speaker, just like the trailer. That sucks. The music is fine.


UPDATE: Using HDMI 2 out of the drive to the receiver fixed the center channel glitch. Now we are going to try settings for the video.

UPDATE 2: Changed motion control to clear and that fixed the problem.

Now we are seeing why Consumer Reports rated this the best TV. "This pricey 65-inch Ultra HD LCD TV from Samsung--in its flagship SUHD series--is among the best TVs we've tested, with excellent high-definition picture quality, excellent UHD performance, and excellent sound quality. It also has very good 3D, a plus if you care for that feature. Although it claims a 240Hz "motion rate," it's a 120Hz mode; nonetheless, it is excellent at reducing motion blur."


Unhappy camper so far. The 4k Blu-ray better be better.

We also bought the Samsung 4k drive. The documentaries look and sound gorgeous. The movies have multiple problems.

Don't have 4k yet? I'd wait and see how the 4k Blu-ray players do before buying a 4k TV.
