Default Dominion™ d110-GLOSS

The Dominion™ d110-GLOSS just came in today. They are just hitting the streets and I can't wait to experience this sub. It's going to be the second week of September before I have my theater room set up.

Does anyone else have this sub? I'd love some feedback from another member that had an early reserve on this.

I thought the E110 and E112 was supposed to be in this price range... wow OK. but at this point, I think the new Hsu ULS-15 MK2 at $779 is a much better bargain.

No not at all, I think your recollection of the JL subs is far away
E-sub is not a fathom but it's still not that far off, Now with the D subs we can talk entry level in the JL language but in terms of speed and accuracy I have yet to see something that comes close to this, I know how great HSUs are and I am sure they offer better value for the money and yes in this case it may be better to go that route but it's all on what you are seeking for in a sub and a JL will never sound sloppy or slow. Always accurate.

heard a pair of 8 inch Dominions at SSI paired with X-34 and the combo was outstanding I personally enjoyed them a lot. A sub is not just about air displacement and frequency response but also speed, accuracy and phase control, JL will never go out of phase honestly they sound fantastic for that matter.

I know I am a fan boy but again finding what you like best in a sub or a speaker is quite personal.

I don't disagree with you Schan but the OP is asking about the Sub itself, he has the right for a valued opinion on it.

I mean you still have to power your sub, buy the material and built it, not to mention not everybody have the time, space and tools to build the sub. I built sub boxes with my friend in the past for his car cause he was on a budget and wow, we were able to built the box for a fraction of the cost and it sounded amazing. .

haha anybody can post a graph I would have to hear it

I do not doubt Dr HSU but at this price you have to cut somewhere right evn for an ID company. I got it Designed and Engineered in the USA but they won't tell you it's Made in China...

I only swear by JL subs best subs I ever owned whether it's for car audio or Home use.

Not a bad looking sub but yeah the price is steep (imo) for what you get.

Have an HSU VTF15HMk2 and yeah it is big but it digs deep and hits hard for a sub under $1K.

And per the JL website the sub is built with "imported and domestic components".

I do not know why JL Canada does not have the Dominion sub on their website but I know it is available, if I want to go to JLaudio.com I get redirected to JLaudio.ca as a fellow canuck. Regardless I am sure it is built in the USA where the HSU is designed and Engineered in the USA but not built in the USA.

I know Callas well I was just teasing him as he is himself a HSU sub himself and I am a proud owner of F113. I know if you look bang for the buck HSU wins hands down.

No doubt and your F113 rocks ( I felt one!) but my heart sank with the dude told me the cost (champagne taste/beer budget)! The best thing though my wife loved the F113!

One of the best things you guys get in Canada is easier access to R34 Skylines. We can get R32's now but their are only legal in most states to register.

Yeah R34 1999-2000 we can since they are older than 15 years old or else it is impossible to import newer models like 2001-2002 R34, I don't know if the law will change eventually but they were talking about it at some point.

Hay doesn't hide that they are built in China. Call them and they'll tell you they are.

Graphs and measurements are more accurate then our ears!

How do you know this graph is the actual measurement?

Where do you see the sub staying in phase during the measurements?

You and I both know Frequency response is one part of the equation.

I am not saying the Dominion is better nor anything like that I am just saying your ears as inaccurate as they are they should tell you what you like best

Just trying to show the other side of the medal Steve

I am sure the HSU is the better value here no doubt in my mind

Both brands have a well deserved reputation for high quality products. But when comparing ID to brick/mortar you should add anywhere from 50% to 150% to the ID pricing. So to say "at this price something needs to be cut"...you're right. It is probably the "regional distributor and local retailers" salaries..

It is clear this is a measurement versus a simulation if that if your question?

How does a sub "stay in phase" exactly? In phase with what?
