When checking the Odeon cinema website earlier (mainly for the next batch of Bond screening days and times), I spotted Benedetta (it's among the new cinema releases being reviewed on this week's edition of The Film Review). It's getting one screening around mid-May.

Yeah it’s part of their monthly “spotlight” screenings, MUBI seems to fully behind with a screening of The Worst Person in the World earlier this week.

Two to three days ago, the days and times were put up on the Odeon website for my local cinema for each of the films in the Paul Verhoeven season. Got my ticket for the original RoboCop (it's one-off screening is on the same week as the one-off screening of On Her Majesty's Secret Service).

Hopefully the Odeon cinema chain does another director-themed season. It's good seeing these themed seasons alongside the regular cinema releases and occasional screenings of foreign-language films.

Saw the original RoboCop at my local Odeon cinema this past Monday night (can't speak for other Odeon cinemas in the UK and Ireland, but at my local Odeon I think it was just a one-off screening).

It had been a long time since I last saw this film (not seen the third film, the various TV titles and the remake), but some of it was familiar (including the scene towards the beginning which I was dreading seeing, but once that scene had happened my anxiety levels went down). It's definitely a classic, but the ridiculous, very strong violence (in the way it was done, and not meant as a criticism) and black comedy/humour will likely put some off. If you 'get it', you'll enjoy the film. I totally got the humanity which was put across

Early on in the film, one of the thoughts going through my mind (in a good way) was seeing three actors who a few years later would star in the TV series Twin Peaks (Miguel Ferrer, Daniel O'Herlihy and Ray Wise).

Also worth saying is that I found Nancy Allen's character and the head of the police department likeable (can't think of the actor who played the latter). I'm not sure how it would have been if Stephanie Zimbalist had played the character Nancy Allen played (she was due to play the role, before Remington Steele was renewed for a fifth season).

There were around fifty cinemagoers in the screen room including myself (a very good turnout). As for the transfer? Couldn't fathom out the aspect ratio. The transfer and sound were very good, nice and clear (especially good at times).

The trailers shown before the film started (can't remember the order they were shown in):

- National Theatre Live: Straight Line Crazy (the cast including Ralph Fiennes)
- The Black Phone
- Don't Worry Darling
- Psycho (Original Theatrical Cut) (this trailer was well constructed)
- Bullet Train
- Nope.
