90's outer limits show on bluray? - Blu-ray Forum

Just saw that the older outer limits show from the 60's is coming to bluray. Does that mean there is a chance for the 90's series? I grew up watching the 90's series and thought most the episode were really cool

Some really great shows in that series, but I think it was shot on NTSC SD video, so it wouldn't really benefit from a Blu-ray release. This shows has always looked pretty awful in the UK, maybe because of a bad standards conversion.

According to IMDB it was shot on 16mm film. It definitely looks like it was shot on film and edited on video like most 90s shows.
For a proper Blu-ray release the show would have to be re-edited from the original film prints if they still exist.

BTW I love your avatar. I've been a Robert E. Howard fan since my youth (in the 70s).

Ah, I checked the IMDB, but I couldn't get the technical info up, so there is (a little) hope. I like the image on the avatar, it's by pulp artist Hannes Bok.

I'm a fan of both the 1960's The Outer Limits show, and the updated '90's version. I've seen the 1960's show in it's entirety, but I've only seen the first three?! seasons of the '90's version - though would like to see the updated series in it's entirety at some point.

Though the 1960's version is more iconic, I actually preferred the '90's version - I liked the more modern (at the time) storylines, the improved effects, and the color. That being said, both shows are obviously products of their time & shouldn't be compared - too much.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 1990's version on Blu - there is a lot of room for improvement re: the PQ - however, as was said, I'm not sure how much more they can do here.

Conversely, the 1960's version looks great - even on regular DVD.
