Default I've been going crazy the past few weeks watching horror!

Totally in the mood for Fall and Halloween. I've gone on a major binge for the past 2-3 weeks. I watched all the Vincent Price movies in Volumes 1 and 2. Also watched Tales of Terror and House of Wax 3D ( original). Watched Friday the 13th parts 1-4 and 6. Watched the Never Sleep Again awesome Nightmare 4 hour almost documentary. Most of these were on Blu but a few were streamed. For Halloween I've been going gang busters: Halloween ( 1978) 35th anniversary Blu, Halloween II ( 1981) Scream Blu, Halloween III Scream Blu, Halloween 4 on Blu, Halloween 6 Producer's cut streaming and also the following streaming: H20, Resurrection ( terrible) and the Rob Zombie 2007 Halloween I redo. I plan to buy Halloween 5 and watch on Blu soon.

Hoping to also watch Rob Zombie's 2009 Halloween II remake soon along with original Invasion of the Body Snatchers ( 1950s) on Blu and the 1970s one also on Blu. Also want to watch The Bad Seed ( 1950s) on Blu.

I caught several Vincent Price less movies on streaming not yet on Blu, such as Commedy of Terrors, Cry of the Banshee ( not good) and Twice-Told Tales ( alright only).

Now I am moving on also to the William Castle collection. Unfortunately, only available on DVD and to stream. Love his movies and there's an amazing documentary on him too.

Plan to also watch the Camp Crystal Lake documentary on Blu soon.

I've also been throwing in some random classic Twilight Zone on Blu.

Going to the Psycho heater Fathom event through TCM's. Can't wait. Never had the opportunity until now to see Hitchock on the big screen.

It's a lot... but a lot of great movie and fun! Best tie of the year in my opinion for movie! Going to keep them coming through October!

Yeah man, I hear ya! I've been trying to hold off on watching my horror movies until October, but I can't help it... they're just too addicting! Not sure if you've seen it already, but I highly recommend Sleepaway Camp. One of the most tense, memorable, shocking slashers I've seen in a while. The less about it you know going in the better, so I'll leave it there. The Burning is also another excellent slasher flick with awesome gore effects!

I've actually been doing pretty well at holding off. October is so close, I really want to kick my marathon off on the 1st.

I'm waiting for October to go all horror. I used to be in the movie viewing contests at another site but didn't want to make it a job. I watch movies when I can for fun, usually 1 a day and more on weekends.

I've been slowly acquiring UK Hammer titles and have been watching as I go. Dracula, Curse Of Frankenstein, Brides Of Dracula, Phantom of The Opera so far. Bunch more that'll be looking at the next couple of weeks.

Also, just moved and went early to set up the house to make my wife and kid's transition easier. It was a lot of work and I missed them, but the side benefit was that I got to watch the trashiest Horror movies I could find every night for two weeks. Finally got around to the Zombie Halloweens. Not taken with either, although the first one at least seemed to have a purpose- one to which I was diametrically opposed, but it had a purpose.

Also, have been working through Vincent Price Collection II as I just acquired that this year.

Not really worried about burnout as I tend to move back into older black and white Horror classics a la silents and Universal sequels and Val Lewton all the way into November, but I don't like to plan- just throw on something to meet whatever mood strikes.

Same here. I've been slowly building my collection with titles in anticipation of October 1st, as well as getting myself hyped to start my month-long marathon. I can't wait.

Every year around this time I start buying cheap horror movies left and right.

By the end of November, I realize that I now own a bunch of bad horror movies and I take them to a local buy/sell shop and trade them back for a tiny fraction of what I paid for them.

...happens every year.

I'll never really understand people who only or primarily watch horror movies in Fall/October. I watch 'em all the time, as well as "regular" movies. Granted, horror is my primary preferred genre. I don't even usually try to come up with a "challenge" or pattern to focus on for October. I often watch NOTLD on 10/31, it's a tradition, but that's about it. I sometimes will watch two movies in a night that are connected somehow or work well together, but rarely. The only thing I considered for this October is watching only movies I have in my collection that I haven't watched yet.

Thanks for the recommendations! I did happen to see both Sleepaway Camp ( all 3) and The Burning over the summer. You're right....Sleepaway Camp. Wow! Going in, I luckily had NO idea about the twist. Great movie!

Better be careful you don't go overboard early and loose steam by the time Halloween actually arrives. I have been getting in the mood, too. Started a couple weeks back when Craven died. Since then I've watched The Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, Psycho, Pumpkin Head, and The Entity.

I'll be up to my neck in Vincent Price Blu-rays in October, since I recently acquired House of 1,000 Dolls, House of the Long Shadows, Madhouse, War Gods of the Deep, and am pre-ordering The Oblong Box and Scream and Scream Again.

I'll also be receiving my Criterion Blu-rays of The Brood and Dressed to Kill.

From Scream Factory, I'm saving my Blu-rays of The Funhouse, Witchboard, and Night of the Demons for October.

My Kino Lorber Blu-ray of Burnt Offerings should be arriving in the not-too-distant future as well.

I've also been saving my BFI Blu-ray of The Phantom of the Opera (1925) for next month, as well as my Criterion Blu-ray of The Phantom Carriage.

To top things off, I've got the upcoming Sony Blu-ray of Christine and the Anchor Bay Blu-ray of The Entity.

On October 25, I'm going to a TCM big screen theatrical showing of Dracula (1931).

I could not, however, hold off on watching The Legacy, The Sentinel, and Backcountry, although they were all just released this month. I watched them as soon as they arrived at my place.

I have yet to participate in a Horror marathon. I don't think I'll be able to stick to a horror-watching schedule - it would feel too much like keeping a dentist appointment . Horror films are very mood-centric; conditions have to be just right for me to sit and enjoy a horror flick from beginning to end. October is obviously the right month but, again, will I be able to stick with a steady stream of just horror flicks? Probably not. Plus, I'm moving soon so I've got all this stress to look forward to.

Absolutely! I've found the best times to watch horror is at night, in the Fall - as the nights are getting shorter & cooler. Atmosphere is essential when watching horror flicks. I have watched horror at all times of the year, but get the most out of the genre around this time, i.e. September - November.

Not going all-out re: horror as some have, though in the past several weeks have re-watched:

The Hills Have Eyes 1 (re-make) and 2; I found the re-make & the sequel superior to the original Wes Craven flick - and I'm a big fan of WC

Trick R' Treat (2007) - great anthology horror film with several tales that are all connected in some way.

Tales from the Darkside (1990) - another excellent anthology horror film; my favorite sequence here was the one with the artist who fell in love with a strange woman (Rae Dawn Chong) - very well-done & horrific. Also enjoyed the one with the college student (Steve Buscemi) and the Mummy.

Insidious 1 & 2 - both were excellent & creepy.

The Conjuring - superb haunted house story, and I liked this better than The Amityville Horror.

It Follows - well-done modern-day horror film.

And, though this isn't a film, I am re-watching the 1980's horror anthology series Tales from the Darkside (1984-1988). Great series, and though some of the stories are more funny than scary, this is/was an enjoyable show.

I made a list a few days ago of the horror movies I plan to watch during October. Most of them haven't been watched yet, so it's a good way to get through the backlog.
