I'm curious on some input here. I currently run a straight 5.1 setup and and looking at doing some upgrades. I'd like to make use of atmos, but I'm wondering if the change between 5.1.2 to 5.1.4 is worth the premium cost increase. Basically I'm sure that given the option 5.1.4 is the better option of the 2 sound wise. However to go from the .2 to .4 seems to be a pretty steep price increase.
I can see you can get a 7.x channel receiver capable of atmos for $400 - $600 (denon, onkyo, etc). However to jump to a 9.x channel receiver is $1500+. Ultimately, is it really worth the $1000+ (receiver plus 2 more speakers) extra cost of going from .2 to .4? |
