Germany John Carpenter's "The Fog" - 35th Anniversary Remastered Limited Edition Mediabook

It looks like Studiocanal in Germany will release John Carpenter's The Fog - 3 Disc Limited Edition Mediabook on 28 August 2015. It seems it will be limited to 1000 copies.

Still unknown if it will have the same extras as the US release.

The UK disc is a Studio Canal (Optimum) release and has nothing but with 3 discs you would expect them to gather up the US bonuses

I noticed this over at the German site this morning, supposedly a new HD Remastered edition, hopefully they will do the same with Escape From New York.

Will it be akin to the GALAXY OF TERROR mediabook and just repurpose the Shout! Factory transfer?

One of those horror film titles I've been wanting to get on Blu-ray for a while. If there is no UK and Australian/New Zealand Blu-ray release happening, and this German Blu-ray has a new HD transfer, then I'll probably get the German Blu-ray release.

If this is a real HD transfer from 35mm, it will be interesting to compare this to the Shout! disc.

They also appear to be doing a JC collection boxset:

Any reviews for this release? Worth picking up, or just stick with Scream Factory edition?

According to the Cinefacts forum this will be the same transfer as the Scream Factory edition.

Well, guess I was wrong, folks who have received this are reporting its the same old shitty transfer used by Kinowelt way back in 2007.

Not sure if SC have messed up but it was reported as being the newly Remastered edition.

Just saved myself 40€

I never expect these Mediabooks to have anything but old recycled transfers. The draw seems to be the deluxe packaging, which I admit can be nice sometimes, but I certainly don't want to blow a lot of money on them just for a fancy box.

I own a few of them which IMO are quite good, Wolf Creek for example, which is superior to the UK and Australian discs. The mediabook packaging isn't something that I desire, they go straight in my cupboard and I put the discs in the cases of other versions I own, unless the title isn't available in another country.

I wanted to know which audio tracks were included... blu-ray.com says only English, but the images from the back cover lists 4-5 tracks...

What you are getting is simply a repack of the OLD German Blu (no extra content) and the old German 2-Disc SD DVD. This does NOT use the new transfer as used by Shout!, so buy only if you have money to burn.

Disc 1 is just the movie
Disc 2 is the dvd movie
Disc 3 are the extras on dvd

Hardly worth buying if you already own the 2 disc special edition dvd or the Shout! one.
