Billy Elliot: The Musical Live will be released on Blu-ray on October 13th, courtesy of Universal. Also released in the UK and other countries last year.

The score from this show is AWFUL hahaha. Maybe it works better in the show but as a cast album, it's a nightmare IMO.

I don't want to call it a nightmare, but it's far from great. And I say this as a huge Elton John fan. But I do think it works much better in the show.

I wish more Broadway shows were filmed and released on Blu Ray.

Matilda the 'musical' also has this problem - listening to it as an album, the songs on their own don't work.

See now I disagree with this. I think they stand on their own as a great cast album.

Insofar as really any cast album can never really, truly be representative of the musical.

I'm all for stage musicals being released on Blu-ray, but I imported this one from the UK and just didn't care for it. That being said, I'm glad it's being released here for the fans.

Amazon has updated the artwork and the Blu-ray does include special features: An introduction by Elliott Hanna (the boy who plays Billy) and Behind the Curtains (a featurette with interviews with Stephen Daldry, Lee Hall and Elton John).
