Default How do you argue with this

"blu-ray causes cancer"

I swear a cashier at FYE told me this. I said to him, I guess you have hd-dvd. He said yes. I said good for you and went to leave. I can't debate with some one who comes up with this. It isn't intelligent. He wanted to keep debating and I said it is like the PS3 and Xbox debate. There isn't one. I have a system that will last and won't RROD. He called it a paper weight without games. Went through the great current games out and all I got was HALO 3. Told him while it might be good it is OVERRATED. I more less left and told him at least I didn't waste my money. BTW No blue copys of HP Box set. They either sold out or didn't order.

Your only answer could have been, "You're a cashier, I don't care what you think".

With a baseball bat. Seriously, WTF??? They FYe's near me (a mere 2 hours trip by car) leans 2:1 Blu, so it's not a corporate policy. Maybe a letter to coporate over why you can't buy producst in their store the way it's stocked is in order?

Default You don't argue.

You report him to his manager and suggest he be required to do volunteer work with cancer patients.

I watched my sister die this summer, so I probably would have broken his nose.

I would have called him an idiot, then walk away. I like the reporting to his manager suggestion too.

I met my cousin in there as well as there were other shoppers. I tried not to let this go unanswered. But then again, you are right he is only a cashier. BTW isn't the customer always right?

Blu-ray causes cancer? Why haven't I seen this all over the news?
This person is a liar if I ever saw one.

If it were me I would simply tell them HD DVD and BD use the SAME blu-laser technology. BD just uses it better for higher capacity. Which is true.

I'd also make a remark like, is it your job to make those outlandish statements, or should I tell your manager you are making public health assessments about blu-ray causing cancer?

Some people are afraid to confront liars. Not me, I figure if you lie to me you deserve to be caught and/or humiliated.

I would have asked him to explain the mechanism by which Blu-ray causes cancer.

My mom has cancer, so I would have ****ing annilihated him! I can afford the bail, just couldn't buy as many blu rays for a bit.

On a calmer note, you should have ratted him out to his district manager. They LOOOOVE hearing that their register jockeys are calling PS3's paperweights.

I don't think you can let every little stupid comment like that get to you. The guy is just a HD-DVD freak that is obviously very immature. How many immature cashiers have you come across at an electronics store? I'd say about 90% of the ones I've come across fit that bill.

If you really want to stick it to the guy, tell the manager of the store what he said to you. I highly doubt that he'd be happy to hear one of his employees is bad mouthing products that are for sale in their store. (unless of course he is also a muttonhead)

I would have just laughed at him and kept laughing. Whenever someone makes a rediculous claim like this, I make sure they know just how rediculous it is so they're so embarassed that they never repeat it. It's for their own good, really. Better to have just me blatantly laughing at them then 100 other people politely laughing when they walk around the corner.
