Default What's with Amazon's out of stock products from FUNimation?

I was planning on purchasing the Blu-ray seasons (2-4) of Yu Yu Hakusho but Amazon doesn't have them in stock for some reason. After all, it's not like it's limited edition items.

Just hope when Amazon has new stock that they come with the slipcovers.

could be a supply bottleneck somewhere since funi is now distributed through universal. their titles not being fully integrated into universal distribution system yet.

working in retail, receiving stuff from universal, we have seen very little funimation stuff mixed in with restock boxes from them yet. but it is happening more each week.

Marketwatch had the press release which should cover it for those interested.
Funimation and Universal enter into Multi-Year Distribution Agreement

Didn't know this. Does it mean future FUNimation media will have the Universal logo featured, too? Well, guess so.

Thanks for the response, Beat.

I don't think so, its a distribution partnership, not a buy out. Basically Universal's muscle will help Funi get better shelf space in places like Walmart and Best Buy. And handle return programs.

That sort of thing.

Pretty much like what Warner Brothers does for Viz Media.

It's because of the Universal deal.

It's happening on FUNimation's own site too. I ordered all four seasons of Dragon Ball Z Kai during their big Dragon Ball sale at the end of July, and I just barely got them today. Like others have said, it's due to the Universal deal.

All right. That's great.

I gotta say that I love how easy it is to get to the menu on FUNimation Blu-rays and DVDs as they don't force users to watch trailers or read those FBI warnings.

Me too. I also ordered DB Classic 1-5, and those have yet to come in. I complained twice and I got $5 off a future order, which I will not use because there's no way I'm ordering through their site again.

Yeah, I'm waiting on Dragon Ball, too. They also gave me $5 off a future order. I wanted to use it on the FUNimation exclusive release of Space Dandy Season 2, but after my Kai Blu-rays arrived in a bubble mailer with no extra padding and some damage to the cases, I'm not too sure.
