A very timely release. Flawed in places and in terms of casting (Roberts, Rickman) but very good nonetheless. Would be nice to see a DVD release of The Treaty as well.

I felt Rickman was very good as Eamon de Valera but i agree about Julia Roberts the movie didn't need her.

I have to disagree there mate, I thought he was poor to be honest. Barry McGovern was much better in the role in The Treaty IMO.

Amazing news. I was hoping the centenary would result in a blu ray release. I just hope it's a decent release - PQ and AQ wise, extras would be nice but I could live without them.

In relation to the casting, I find Rickman endlessly watchable but not remotely human in the role - he's too mannered by far. And, unlike most, I think Roberts does alright with a fairly thankless part. Would I gave preferred an Irish actress? Most definitely. But it could have been worse.

At last. It has quite a few historical inaccuracies which is to be expected from a Hollywood produced picture but Neeson was great. Hopefully they keep the great cover that was used on the poster, VHS and DVD.

Recently watched the old SD flipper DVD on my 55" - appalling

Just saw the new cover, I don't like it. Why modernize it? I may go for the German release instead.

If it's anything like the other recent WB anniversary BD releases, the worldwide cover art will be revised to new, uniform art, which is probably what is displayed in the UK right now. The other countries are displaying a cover with art from the original theatrical poster, anyway, and that is far too sensible.

Unfortunately that will likely be the case. Great poster ruined with the usual photoshopping.

It's not the worst I have seen but it just doesn't sit right with me. Too modern looking for my taste.

Will have try and print out a cover myself for this one using this.
