I have no idea what I am doing with this thing.
I have no idea how to hook it up to my stereo system. I have a Sony Multi Channel AV Receiver STR-DH710 and an NHT MA-1A Amplifier. I purchased this Cerwin Vega item and I have no idea how to hook it up, not even sure what it is for. Any help on this would be marvelous. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Cerwin Vega what?
The MA-1A is an amplifier. The only way to use it with your Sony is as a subwoofer amp to a passive sub. Since whatever this CV is has a power cord...it can't be used with the NHT. (edit, never mind. The pics are of a Cerwin Vega "made like every single other powered subwoofer on the market" subwoofer. Why can't you figure it out? The NHT, which is what I thought was the top picture...since the pics aren't very clear, is what I now know what it is...by Googling it... Can't be used, at all, with the CV) Last edited by schan1269; 11-01-2015 at 09:36 PM. |

Sorry for the crappy photos. I couldn't upload them to blu-ray.com.
I took a look at the Cerwin Vega and it is a Arphu2003 subwoofer amp. http://www.apexjr.com/VegaARPHU2003.htm I just have no idea what I use it for or how to hook it up. |

That Cerwin Vega and the MA-1A are the SAME thing.
Subwoofer amps. You, uh, hook them up to passive subwoofers. The ONLY, at all, difference is... MA-1A is intended to remain outboard. The CV is intended that you mount it in the box. That. Is. The. Only. Difference. |

again, sorry how it sounds, just with you saying you don't know so many times, I'm wondering why you purchased it first then try to figure out what it is, how it works and how to connect it to your gear. my recommendations going forward, know your gear, know what you want to do with it and do homework on things you intend to add to it before you buy something to add to it. if you do those things, more times than not, you will not have a problem. (aside from things not working correctly) good luck to you and I hope someone can help you. but do keep in mind what I said. it will prevent posts of this nature in the future. again, good luck. |

And these NHT are what model number?
More likely, you'd use one amp in parallel, cause I assume you intend to attempt "LFE going to the woofers*". The NHT are likely set up with a 500hz-ish crossover. Nowhere near the max 200hz your AVR has. *woofer=produces sound from 500hz to 40hz(give or take +60 to -10) Subwoofer=produces sound from 120hz to 30(give or take +15 to -15) Last edited by schan1269; 11-03-2015 at 03:32 PM. |
