Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation on Thursday afternoon announced K-Pop: Demon Hunters (working title), a new animated feature bound for the streamer in 2025.

The first feature for Maggie Kang, who’s directing with Chris Appelhans (Wish Dragon), K-Pop: Demon Hunters is a musical action adventure pic that follows the story of a world-renowned K-Pop girl group, as they balance their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as bad-ass demon hunters, set against a colorful backdrop of fashion, food, style and the most popular music movement of this generation.

Netflix today announced the limelight-worthy roster of voice stars who will bring to life the supernatural, music-driven animated feature KPop Demon Hunters, produced by Sony Pictures Animation. This blend of modern music phenoms and ancient otherworldly danger will premiere on the streamer on June 20. A spate of new images from the CG feature were also revealed for the first time.

Leading the lineup are Arden Cho (Rumi), May Hong (Mira) and Ji-young Yoo (Zoey) as the titular baddy-busters, alongside Ahn Hyo-seop as Jinu, the leader of a rival boy band with a hellacious secret.

The film also features the voices of Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, with Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong and Byung Hun Lee.

Additionally, Netflix revealed that KPop Demon Hunters will feature original songs performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, REI AMI, Andrew Choi, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, samUIL Lee, Neckwav and Lea Salonga. The movie’s all-new original theme song is performed by Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung of TWICE.

Why is K-Pop more "popular" than J-Pop in the states? I mean, I think I know why, but still. Otaku seems like the bigger sub-group.

Hoping this gets significantly more buzz and attention on release than the last time Netflix released a major animated movie on the same day as a Pixar film (Ultraman Rising)

They would have to release it in theaters for that to happen

K-Pop: Demon Hunters looks great, 'tis a shame it's gonna be overshadowed by Elio.

I plan on watching both, should be fun times.

Netflix is allergic to theatres sadly, unless it's for awards season.

Visuals look slick and it reminds me of demon-hunting anime, and I like demon-hunting anime (especially Blue Exorcist and Demon Slayer). But my sad prediction is... it'll be the next Better Man, but for South Korea instead of the UK. I hope I don't need to elaborate.

Looks alright, but some of those facial animations are legit VERY rough to look at.

I like the anime style, but some of those faces are stretched to the limit of the animation rigs.

I can absolutely see why it would divide people but I think the animators successfully pulling of 2D anime-esque character reactions/expressions in CG is an insanely impressive technical feat/"HOW DID THEY DO THIS??" feat on par with Sony Animation/Imageworks' work on Into/Across the Spiderverse with creating new animation techniques pushing the limits of what can be done in CG

By all means, I still think the animation is wonderful, there's just like a few moments that were a little harsh to look at in the trailer. But I'm sure in the final product I won't have much complaints.

A friend is on the Netflix preview club and this film was shown this weekend. They thought it was aimed more toward children.
