Love the show will definitely be purchasing this. Shame they haven't released the series on Blu-ray to tie in with the movie.

It was all SD so any BD will only be upscales, so little point. Like many BBC shows at the time was only made in SD as a cost saving measure.

I don't think this is eOne. It's being released by Altitude and 20th Century Fox theatrically.

Hustle (which had same producers) was HD but Spooks was SD throughout. They commented on this that by the time HD production costs became affordable it did not make sense to switch.

It seems to be one of these mixed bag independent productions which have loads of different companies involved. The BBFC listing states the distributor is Pinewood Studios Group who I have never heard of releasing films or BD.

Fox definitely have the rights in the US confirmed in a number of places but UK seems unclear and it may well be differenet people have the film and BD rights.

I believe Spooks was shot on Super 16mm (a format which the BBC does not classify as 'HD', only 35mm) film throughout its entire run (then edited & post-production done in SD).

As a result, while a HD remaster would be possible (it all depends on how many extra FX shots were done in SD originally, as these would need to be redone in HD, or upscaled from the original SD), it's unlikely and probably wouldn't benefit that much given that the source material is only in 16mm.

Think 'spook' is some sort of racist term in the States, so probably wanted to avoid any unnecessary bother.
