Ireland-based BoyleSports expects Hardy to emerge as frontrunner for the role currently played by Daniel Craig, Variety reported. Idris Elba and Damian Lewis are BoyleSports' current favourites.

I'd take another 5 Craig Bond films before Lewis gets anywhere near 007. That makes it sound like I dislike Craig (I don't), but I'd be willing to put up with Craig's not-quite-James Bond for a few more years. Well... even though Craig's Bond is, in terms of demeanour, very close to how he was written by Fleming, I'd like a Connery type character to emerge. Gerard Butler would've been perfect, but I think he's pushing 50 too, unless I'm mistaken.

As much as I like Evans, I doubt they'd go that route. If people freak over a black man, what would a gay man have said? I cringe at the thought.

Can't see Hardy or Fassbender getting called for casting, let alone accepting the role (probably due to other commitments and not wanting to be locked into the multi-film deal).

Hardy is too Rough Trade to be Bond. I don't think he is appropriate for the role. Elba, perhaps.
