In space, you will be hearing many screams as we unleash 1997’s gruesome EVENT HORIZON on an upgraded & definitive Blu-ray release this Fall! Details we have currently are as follows:

• National street date for North America (Region A) is planned for Sept 29th. Please note that the date could change as we are still experiencing a domino effect from the COVID situation--which has caused numerous delays for earlier releases in our schedule, as you have seen We’ll do our best to keep this date of course, but we’re still in an unprecedented time in which getting access to talent for extras or setting up film transfers are more challenging than they were before. We appreciate your understanding now and in advance and hopefully there will be some stabilization.

• This is being presented as a Collector’s Edition release and will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release.

• The newly commissioned artwork you see pictured comes to us from artist Joel Robinson. This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork.

• New extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date (Aug timing, and also depending on current events). We can confirm today that we are doing a new 4K scan of the film! As for any much-inquired-about additional footage (in addition to what's be presented on prior releases), we are looking into it as best we can. We welcome any leads you may have alongside our efforts.

This is one of the few Shout! commissioned artworks that I really dig. And this film was dying for a new scan. I can't stand the over processed look of the current BD.

I'm not feeling very positive about any new footage but I've been surprised before. Anyway, new 4k scan is enough for me.

Scream does not have the license for a 4K disc.

not sure why shout keeps doing 4k scans of stuff without putting it out in 4k. they did release a 4k title so its not like they can't press 4k discs. my guess is at some point in a year or so all these titles they have 4k scans of there probably gonna re release them with 4k discs then people who want the 4k release will have to re buy the whole thing again and they get double your money then.

I heard the missing footage was lost in a salt mine and severely damaged, making it irretrievable.

1. 4K scans are for archival purposes. The same reason films are restored in 8K or higher.

2. Scream has to obtain a license for the format they want to release. They acquired the license for the Deer Hunter 4K from Universal and the same contractual licensing extended to Arrow for Flash Gordon and Pitch Black.

don't expect the director's cut. The deleted footage is too degraded

at best they could maybe release the workprint as an extra on the disc
