Such a POWERFUL and INSPIRATIONAL film. It really moved me and our church and taught us the power of Prayer. I recommend this film for EVERY Christian.

Hey guys, did you really need to let us know you don't like movies like this? You don't have to watch if you don't want to. Its nice if this thread could remain positive. TIA.

I'm personally excited about seeing this movie as I have heard good things.

I respect your right to your opinion. But to what purpose does it serve to come into a thread for a movie and bash it? Have you even SEEN the film before bashing it?

No one here is forcing you to watch, rent or see this movie. But SOME of us here actually ENJOY movies like this, so please be respectful.

People come into every thread and bash the movie. It sucks, but don't take it so personally or act like it's a special thing to this movie. You're not being persecuted.

I actually have seen this and thought it was terrible even by faith based film standards.

I have not seen this movie yet and everyone has different tastes when it comes to movies (Some people dislike Christian movies, while others really enjoy Christian movies, and some feel that some Christian movies are just average). I have seen both secular and Christian movies that have poor quality acting and storylines. There are some movies that I have seen that I have rated a half a star out of 5 stars, while other movies I liked a lot which I felt deserved a 5 star out of 5.

This War Room movie was from the creators of Fireproof and Courageous (both of those movies I enjoyed a lot). I would like to see this movie that appears to be about prayer, I missed it when it was in the commercial movie theater.

Christian online retailers like Christian.com are offering a exclusive collector’s Edition DVD with the Blu-ray version. The bonus 480i DVD contains the following exclusive features that are not on the Blu-ray.

Exclusive Features:
  • Stephen Kendrick Devotion
  • Alex Kendrick Devotion
  • Featurettes:
    • Wall of Remembrance
    • Redemption For the Mitchell Home

Its only $22.99 for the combo pack. Normally I do not like DVD combo versions unless they contain exclusive bonus features.

The Family Christian website has the Exclusive Collectors Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack for $19.99 plus for a limited time pre-orders include a free journal that is valued at $14.99 (Limited time only, while supplies last).

This Blu-ray title does not come out until 12-22-15, however Christianbook.com sent me the Soundtrack CD already instead of waiting to send the audio CD with the War Room Blu-ray disc movie.

I listened to the War Room CD soundtrack and I enjoyed the music.

This film was actually made by an independent production company out of Georgia. Their first film was made with $20,000 in donations. Second film was made for $100,000 and grossed over $10 million and they've grown from there. They have a distribution deal with Sony but I wouldn't say it was "made by Hollywood."

Martin Liebman back on December 16th 2015 has written an excellent professional review regarding this War Room movie on Blu-ray. This movie was released today on December 22nd 2015 for consumers. The exclusive collector’s edittion I ordered should be arriving soon.

Here is a brief quote from the Movieguide website:

“Very strong Christian, moral worldview with an appeal to prayer; no foul language; no overt violence”

War Room Blu-ray + Exclusive Collector’s Edition DVD combo pack (brief user review)

War Room is an excellent fictional Christian movie that has been released on the Blu-ray format. This low budget Christian movie had an estimated budget of 3 million dollars and it was so popular at the box office that it grossed over 71.5 million dollars as of December 23rd 2015. This movie is made from the creators of Fireproof and Courageous. The Kendrick brothers keep improving the quality of their Christian movies and War Room is their best or one of their best movies so far.

All the acting and storylines in the War Room movie was excellent. This fictional War Room movie has a very strong Gospel message and the storyline is very realistic for the 21st Century. The movie preaches a message that praying to Jesus Christ can improve people’s lives by bringing them closer to a relationship with God and other family members. The movie shows how lukewarm Christians can become on fire for God by reading the Bible and praying. In the movie Tony and Elizabeth Jordan have some of the nice luxuries the world has to offer, however they are lacking in their relationship with God and each other. The movie shows how the risen Messiah Jesus Christ can make life more enjoyable for those that repent and turn back to God. The movie also is realistic by showing that day-to-day problems still occur after one becomes a dedicated Christian (and sometimes life can get worse after one becomes a Christian). This movie also shows a prayer scene where the real enemy Satan is rebuked from the Jordan’s home.

This fictional movie is very well done and has the look of a secular movie when in fact it’s a classic Christian movie. I highly recommend this movie for all Christians, and it is one of my favorite Christian movies of all time. While this movie is mainly for existing Christians, it also could be used as a witnessing tool for non-Christians. This movie has a message in its storyline that some so called Christians are living a lukewarm lifestyle and some so called Christians need to repent and turn back to God (just like in real life). When Christians truly live for God and turn from sin, that is one of the best witness a Christian can have on people (and this movies storyline shows how some people in the secular world have respect for Christians that are truly living the Christian life). This movie is also encoded with several different language subtitle options for those that need or want to use subtitles.

Video comments

This War Room movie was filmed on a Red Epic camera at 5K Redcode Raw source format. A 4K digital intermediate master exists for this movie (Many commercial movie theaters are capable of showing this movie at 4K quality). Therefore, perhaps one day the movie could be released on the coming soon 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. For now, the best way to watch the War Room movie is at home on the 1080P Blu-ray format. This War Room Blu-ray plus Exclusive Collector’s Edition DVD combo pack contains both a 480i DVD and 1080P Blu-ray in the same package. The dual layer 480i DVD uses a total of 7.85GB out of 8.5GB. The dual layer 1080P Blu-ray disc uses a total of 43.4GB out of 50GB. What is disappointing is consumers have to purchase the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack in order to get the exclusive extras that are only located on the DVD disc. This Blu-ray + Exclusive Collector’s Edition DVD is exclusive to Christian retail stores and Christian online websites. Secular websites contain only the Blu-ray disc with no exclusive extras. There is plenty of room on the Blu-ray disc to include exclusive extras, however the studio decided to place the exclusive extras on the 480i DVD disc only. Therefore, the 480i DVD disc has everything that is included on the Blu-ray disc + some exclusive extras not found on the Blu-ray disc (except the trailers are a little different on the discs). The main menu for the Blu-ray disc uses the MPEG-2 codec with 1080P resolution and the audio for the main menu uses studio master 2.0 LPCM stereo.

In regards to the 1080P War Room movie on Blu-ray. The MPEG-4/AVC codec is used with an average of 24Mbps for some scenes. Other scenes were around the 20Mbps to 29Mbps+ range. Overall, this Christian movie was reference material in terms of picture quality. Excellent resolution detail with accurate colors. I do not have any complaints with this beautiful movie in terms of picture quality.

Audio comments

This War Room movie contains both a English 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack and a Portuguese 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack that is bit for bit exactly the same as the studio master. Plus many lossy soundtracks: English Audio Descriptive Service (5.1 Dolby Digital 640kbps), French 5.1 Dolby Digital (640kbps), Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital (640kbps), and Thai 5.1 Dolby Digital (640kbps).

The English 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack mix sounded excellent with easy to understand voices coming out of the center channel. During the brief Vietnam scene the surround sound and bass effect was good. Overall, I enjoyed this movies surround sound mix and the front speaker dialogue was reference quality when compared to some other Christian movies that I have listened to on Blu-ray.

Bonus features

The audio commentary track with Director Alex Kendrick and producer Stephen Kendrick contains an English 2.0 Dolby Digital soundtrack at 192kbps (lossy). This audio commentary track was excellent and very enjoyable to listen too. It has many facts about locations and scenes in the movie. For example the Kendrick Brothers have high respect for married and unmarried actors. According to the War Room audio commentary T.C. Stallings who plays Tony Jordan, had his real wife come on the set when it came to brief physical contact scenes like holding hands, etc. The Kendrick Brothers had T.C Stallings do all the physical contact scenes in the movie with his real wife (like holding hands). Therefore, in the movie 100% of the physical scenes like holding hands was filmed with T.C. Stallings real wife and then it was edited in a way to make it look like the characters Tony Jordan and Elizabeth Jordan were the ones holding hands, etc. In other Stephen Kendrick movies (according to other Christian audio commentaries found on other Blu-rays) the kissing scenes between husband and wife, the Kendrick brothers would always have the real husband and real wife come in to kiss each other. I believe that has also occurred with some Pure Flix Entertainment movies. In some Christian denominations, one is not allowed to have a male and female kiss each other until marriage occurs. Holding hands during prayer at church is sometimes allowed, however holding hands in a romantic way outside of church is not allowed until marriage or until the couple is engaged. By doing this actors are faithful to their wives since all kissing and physical contact scenes like holding hands are done with the real husband or wife. In addition, this is a witness to the world that Christian actors are not compromising their vows that they made to God and their wife. Some Baptist and other Christian denominations practice this way of life. However, keep in mind that there are over 40,000 different Christian denominations and some Christians do not wait until marriage to kiss and hold hands. There are most likely plenty of Christian movies from various studios in which actors kiss each other and hold hands with other actors that are not their husband or wife.

On the Blu-ray disc 100% of the bonus features are 1080P quality using mostly the MPEG-4/AVC codec (MPEG-2 codec is used for one trailer). Also all the bonus features are English 2.0 Dolby Digital at 192kbps, except for the trailers which are all English 5.1 Dolby Digital (640kbps). The Deleted Scenes lasts 10 minutes and 50 seconds. The Bloopers and Outtakes lasts exactly 6 minutes. War Room In 60 Seconds lasts 1 minute and 14 seconds. The Heart Of War Room lasts 6 minutes and 6 seconds. The Making Of War Room lasts 11 minutes and 12 seconds. From Auditioning To Acting lasts 8 minutes and 19 seconds. The Art Of Jumping Rope lasts 2 minutes and 33 seconds. A Pastor’s Call To Prayer lasts 2 minutes and 31 seconds. Behind The Scenes: Color Grading lasts 4 minutes and 12 seconds. The Church On Its Knees lasts 7 minutes and 52 seconds. Molly Bruno: Modern Day Miss Clara lasts 7 minutes and 50 seconds. Investing In the Next Generation lasts 3 minutes and 10 seconds. “Warrior” Music Video by Steven Curtis Chapman lasts 4 minutes and 34 seconds. In addition, there are also several Christian movie trailers on this Blu-ray that are all 1080P quality using English 5.1 Dolby Digital (640kbps). Most of the trailers use the MPEG-4/AVC codec (one trailer uses the MPEG-2 codec).

Exclusive Collector’s Edition DVD

The exclusive collectors edition DVD that comes with the Blu-ray disc has the movie in 480i along with all the special features that are located on the Blu-ray disc, plus the following exclusive bonus features that is only located on the DVD (Note: All the exclusive bonus features are 480i SD quality using the MPEG-2 codec with English 2.0 Dolby Digital (128kbps). On the last page of the Special Features menu on the DVD, the following can be found. Some of the trailers on the DVD are different then the Blu-ray and the DVD includes the trailer for War Room, Woodlawn, and Provident Films. In addition, there is a Ministry Tools menu option which brings up a Ministry Tool disc menu. War Room Resources contains a Battle Plan For Prayer Bible Study Trailer (1 minute and 10 seconds), also the menu selection called War Room Novel lasts 45 seconds. The Group Event is just a 30 second still slide informing one this video is licensed for home use only. The Ministry Partners sub menu under Ministry tools has the following videos to choose from: Weekend To Remember lasts 1 minute and 6 seconds. Art of Marriage lasts 1 minute and 4 seconds. Men Stepping Up lasts 1 minute and 8 seconds. Calming the Storm Devotional lasts 2 minutes and 14 seconds. Operation Christmas Child: A Message From Franklin Graham lasts 3 minutes and 3 seconds.

The Exclusive Bonus Features on the DVD contains the following exclusive extra features

The Wall of Remembrance lasts 2 minutes and 23 seconds. Stephen Kendrick Devotion lasts 8 minutes and 12 seconds. Alex Kendrick Devotion lasts 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Redemption For Mitchell Home lasts 4 minutes and 42 seconds.

Conclusion

This War Room Blu-ray + Exclusive Collector’s Edition DVD combo pack is an excellent bargain. There is many hours worth of extra features to watch if one includes the very interesting audio commentary track. The picture and sound quality is outstanding and is reference material when compared to most other Christian Blu-ray’s on the market. The storyline for this fictional Christian movie is outstanding and realistic. With an estimated budget of 3 million dollars and box office sells of over 71.5 million dollars, the Christian community has fallen in love with this War Room movie. Those Christians that are interested in a deeper walk with Jesus using Bible study and prayer will most likely enjoy this movie. Some non-Christians will find this movie interesting. This is a highly recommended Christian movie since all the actors do an excellent job of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a unique and powerful way.

This was a surprisingly good movie. Maybe a little preachy but it wasn't overbearing like some of their films. A.
