I love the Shout set. It goes perfectly with the Ringu Boxset from Arrow. But this is great for people who just want the remake.

Damn. I don't recommend getting the Shout set, but if push came to shove and I knew both existed, I probably would've waited. Then again, I never had The Ring Two on Blu-ray until now.

I love the limited edition SB artwork, though. The Shout one is dumb.

Nice! Never did purchase the blu-ray at any point, so I’m excited there’s a 4K on the way. Might get the steelbook.

Had a feeling we'd see an individual release, though i expected it to be a WM exclusive Steelbook from SF.

The Shout release does have a feature length documentary included, that still makes it a worthy buy in my opinion.

Quote:
NEW – Ghost Girl Gone Global (HD, 1:32:29) is a feature-length documentary newly produced for the set and exploring the world of The Ring and Samara. The documentary explores the legacy and the impact of the iconic horror character and The Ring franchise. It is wonderful to see a new documentary included on the release as a fun exclusive. Fans of The Ring franchise will definitely want to check it out.

I wish they had kept the VHS slipcover design for the 4K. The recent Paramount Blu-ray case looks awesome.

Depends how much you value typical Shout interviews, because that's what this is, an hour and a half of them with people you've probably never heard of.

Unlke most of SF's recent productions, this one actually includes interviews with several people involved with the franchise including Hiroshi Takahashi, the writer of Ring two, Norio Tsuruta, the director of Ring 0: Birthday, F. Javier Gutiérrez, the director of Rings, Bonnie Morgan who plays Samara in Rings, and plenty more.

Cool, but it doesn't have Gore Verbinski or Naomi Watts, or Hideo Nakata, the director of the original, or Koji Suzuki who wrote the novels. Not even the writers of the original Ringu and the American remake.

I guess it's personal preference, but interviews feel like such a "boring" extra when you can find hours and hours on YouTube.

Was there something wrong with the Shout 4K or are these cheers/groans just coming from people who didn't want to buy the sequels?

From what I've seen, A lot of people only wanted the first one by itself

A lot? Likely a very very large majority, even those who bought the set I bet a small percentage wanted all three on 4k

Yes!! Love this movie, glad I held out and happy to see it wasn't that long of a wait at that. Not knocking the other entry's but heh, I only have so much shelf space, can't wait to squeeze this one on it!

Was contemplating buying the shout set but, as they say, good things come to those who wait. Although the cover art is not amazing in either standard nor steelbook... I much prefer blu holographic slipcover.
