This senseless study is a good example of why modern feminism gets such a bad rap.

Oooooohhhhh.... boooooooooyyyyyyyyyy....

Yes. My use of "boy" instead of "girl" was completely intentional.

This is about modern Disney princesses, yet is using Little mermaid as an example.

Little Mermaid. The film where she's purposely not allowed to talk as part of the plot. Ok.

Yep.

Fact is, you can make statistics show anything you want most of the time.

They also talk about Aladdin where the princess isn't a main character in the story. The boy and the genie are the two leads, and the villain is also male.

As well as Pocahontas, the movie about sailers (who at the time were all male) and soldiers, and Mulan, a movie specifically about a woman going into a group of all male soldiers. Alladin... well I can't remember any female characters in that besides Jasmine. Plus one is Robin Williams. You could take out all the male characters except the Genie and it'd still be male majority just from him.

And the examples of the exceptions to the "modern" rule are the 2 most recent movies at the time, and they have yet to do it on Frozen, which probably would yeild a similar result to Tangled.

Not to mention that which character has the most lines tells you nothing about the importance of those lines, the impact of those lines, how memorable those lines are, or anything else like that.

Of course it does. That's how you know Mads Mikkelsen's character in Valhalla rising is of no importance whatsoever.

These Disney movies are way sexist - there are no prince focused films. Aladin doesnt count. Most of the men in these films are treated like two-dimensional meat.

So by "mossumed the title was referring to the recent spate of live-action nonsense and I found that hard to believe.
