Yep - unfortunately over 80% of the installed HDTV's can't accept a 1080P signal.

How stupid of Toshiba to sell what's needed

Because almost all 1080p sets will properly deinterlace the 1080i signal making this a moot point. Don't fall for the marketing hype.

talk about serious ignorance. This person has no inkling what interlacing is.

Where's Tardis when you need it? We sure need it to go back into the time to erase the existence of HD DVD so the great Time...err... Format War would never had happened.

if 1080i and 1080p are the same. what do the 1080i hd supporters think of their 1080p fellow hd supporters?

i do not know i had a 1080i tv and now i have a 1080p tv and ohh man what a difference so let them think what they want but all those morons know the trueth blu is awesome and red is just simply a glorified dvd and blu is simply a masterpiece so this lee stewart guy is just living in a lie. let him watch his crappy transformers hd-dvd...roflmao. but what i would kill for is on blu-ray of transformers so all these hd-dud morons can see true 1080p quality and loss audio then they would know that blu is simply beautifull.

support blu buy blu think blu and remain true to blu. die red die. ohh and lee stewart get a clue moron.

assuming the percentage is correct, i'd have to agree with him. sorry. i think its stupid to not plan for the future, but they're making products for the consumers needs. why you would buy a 1080i product at this point is beyond me, but the point is a good one

There is a huge untapped hdtv market as well. Most people will end up owning 1080p hdtv's.

I talked to this 1 guy who wanted Transformers on Hd-Dvd and i was telling him it only has Dolby Digital plus as the highest audio and he started telling me well most people cant tell the difference between Dolby Digital Plus and uncompressed sound since i was telling him how great PCM audio is and how great Transformers would of been if it was on Blu-ray with PCM sound. and he goes off saying that people's ears wouldnt know the difference and so i told him well i can tell the difference because uncompressed sound means uncompressed no part of the audio was compressed at all and Blu-ray delivers that quite well
