I found the memoir by John Callahan at the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. Its a short book and it was well worth the $1. I highly recommend it. As for the film, I watched it on Amazon Prime and it was time worth spent too. Joaquin Phoenix is superb as always. The film has many sweet and moving moments. Gus Van Sant directs the film using a non linear approach and some interesting scrolling shots I can't remember ever seeing in a film before. Jonah Hill is also really good in the film, especially in a particular scene where he really becomes vulnerable. I would recommend watching!
