Amazon.co.uk 10 GBP off of 50+ GBP Orders (YMMV?)

Just got the email. Use BIGTHANKS to get 10 GBP off of 50+ GBP orders.

The items MUST be sold by Amazon. No third party sellers. Verified it does work on Blu-Ray's just now.

In case anyone is asking, "If it's 10 off 50, it should be 14 to 15 USD off of 70-75 USD, but it isn't working right?", here's what I found:

The price is inflated with VAT (usually 20%) usually. The VAT is taken away (usually) when shipping to the States. Shipping and handling is also charged (depending on the number of items and how many shipments, this price can vary). Any promotional discounts are applied on the GBP price. After all the discounts and reductions are performed, THEN the conversion kicks in.

Example:
Item is priced at 39.99 GBP.
Item is reduced to 33.33 GBP (after 20% VAT removal)
Item costs about 3.08 GBP to ship.
Total before VAT is 36.41.
VAT is applied (if shipping out of the UK, no VAT). Usually 0.
Then, the GBP price is converted to USD (so 36.41 becomes $53.80).

For this price, the items will have to total out to 50.00 or higher GBP (excluding shipping/handling and after VAT reduction) for the promo to work. Even if you manage to get 50.00 GBP, you're looking at another 3-4 GBP for shipping at the minimum to go to the States. So, you're looking to spend about 44-45 GBP at the minimum for any deal. Which makes this about $66-67+ for your order.

Some noteworthy purchases:
Marvel Agents of SHIELD S1, S2, and Agent Carter S1 for $70 and change (after all discounts, works out to roughly $23 and change per season, the best price on these to date, and they are region free)

Game of Thrones S1-5 Blu-Ray (releases in March, but it is region free) for $85 ($17 per season; may not be the best deal for the prior seasons cause of no digital, but if you don't have the show and want it now, this is the best deal for the lot)

Any HBO series (Entourage, The Wire, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, The Newsroom, etc...all are Region Free)

Breaking Bad: The Complete Series

Star Wars: The Complete Saga and Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures are about $69 together with this (considering The Complete Saga rarely hits below $70-75 except in a really rare sale, this is an epic deal)

Lost: The Complete Series (the Blu-Ray is rare in the States; just know that Season 4 is region-specific aka Region B; if you have a multi-region Blu-Ray player, you're good; if not, you can buy a used copy of Season 4, Region A on GoHastings and swap out the disks for about $10-15; yet if all the seasons are available used on GH and you have a 30+% off promo, then you may be paying as much for this set too; YMMV)

Nikita: The Complete Series (it's 19.99 GBP, which is a great deal in itself)

Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery (it's at 39.99 GBP, but this is a chance to nab this and some other things for a great price too)

Warehouse 13: The Complete Series on Blu-Ray (yes, it seems W13 and Eureka do exist on Blu-Ray overseas (Eureka is on Amazon.de, though) and they are cheaper there compared to the DVDs over here)
