Default How would you feel if Tommy Wiseau made a legitimately great movie?

Imagine if just out of nowhere Tommy Wiseau creates this non-ironic masterpiece and it's so great it wins best picture. How do you feel?

I'd be disappointed. Someone with such raw talent such as him should not be wasting their time on good movies.

Wouldn't really bother me since I had no idea who he is and had to look him up in Wikipedia. However from looking there, I don't think there is much risk of that. He seems to be a bit of a phoney - makes up a history for himself, picks James Dean, Marlon Brando, Tennessee Williams, Orson Welles, Elizabeth Taylor, and Alfred Hitchcock as influences which makes you wonder if he is really influenced or if they are the cool choices to get attention. He seems to be more worried about his hype than his films.

I would expect it before Christopher Nolan started making good films.

Do you have these pre-prepared? Or are you just genuinely gifted at coming up with these on the spot?

I really hope they happen on the spot. The hatred just fuels the fire.

I'd be happy for him and not terrible surprised.

It's been done before; as recently as last night a film from Adam McKay (whose films, by and large, make The Room look like Citizen Kane) was a frontrunner for Best Picture - and deservedly so, imo.

This is implying that The Room isn't a legitimately great movie, and it's highly offensive.

Just like with his other movies, I wouldn't be likely to notice.

Well, how often does the opposite happen - when have truly great filmmakers who've made masterpieces turn around and make things comparable to The Room?

I'd nominate She Hate Me.

Then I'd nominate The Day the Fish Came Out.
