Composite and component audio cables doesn't make a difference in sound, it's the exterior quality of the cable, and the source it's outputting from. You don't have to buy audio and HDMI cables online, you can go to any local electronic or department store (like Walmart, Target, Sams, etc) and buy A/V cables.

Yeah, but the electronics stores have taken to charging $10-20 for a simple RCA patch cord these days... The Monoprice cables are fine, if a bit flimsy. Their premium cables are more robust - but in terms of audio/video quality - it won't matter one bit...

I made my own cables using bulk cable from Home Depot. Also, if you're Canadian, most computer shops carry very reasonably priced cables such as these. If you were on the east coast, I would recommend Canada Computers, but I'm sure the west coast has their own chains. |

"Note: Redmere (Spectra 7) has introduced an 18 Gbps cable (Monoprice is already shipping said cables), however the current failure rate is damn near 100% (they even have issues at 10 Gbps where the older models did not). Currently China mfgrs cannot even get their (purchased from Spectra 7 and expensive) active cable programmers to work, this means that the cable must be sent to Redmere in Ca. for programming and then back to China for terminal over-molding and packaging. even with this the failure rate is "way" not exceptable. There is also no possibility of EDID repair built into this module from Redmere. Be careful for promises." |

I have used Monoprice cables including HDMI, component, and stereo, and have always had good experiences with them. I feel like they are still way cheaper than any brick and mortar store, but I could be mistaken about that. I would say shop around, and if you are going to spend the same amount of money on the same quality of cable, then do whatever you prefer at that point.
If I was in teh market for cables, I would go to Monoprice, and advise others to do the same when the topic comes up in conversation. |
