I bought star trek the complete original series on blu a long time ago on ebay (brand new, shrink wrapped)... just getting around to watching.
the first disc is missing part of the label causing the bluray laser to go straight through and creating stuttery playback. Appears to be the only disc with this manufacture problem. Anyone know somewhere to buy single disc replacements? Or maybe I should just watch ebay? |

Your only option right now is to contact the studio (Paramount I'm assuming) and explain the problem to them, and maybe they will send you a replacement disc. If not, there is nothing else you can do but to re-buy the entire boxset on ebay or at another merchant.

Nobody can sell a separate disc from a boxset because it cannot be sold if any of the discs are missing, and the boxset will not be complete. The OP will have to get a replacement disc from the manufacturer, or buy the Season 1 Blu-ray individually, if Paramount won't send a replacement.

If you can find a brick store that carries it still chances are you could exchange it for the exact same item even without a receipt. You get a new set, the store sends the one you gave them back to the company as defective and gets reimbursed for the copy you got to walk away with and everything's good.

In response to OP's problem, I thought blu-rays were supposed to be able to play transparent areas fine, unlike DVDs which required the reflective surface on the back of the DVD label surface. I don't have any source, but I returned my first Star Wars set as a precaution for this reason and was told by many other members that in fact there likely wouldn't have been any issue. |
