Default The Primevals

Where is The Primevals? David Allen's stop motion animation film that he worked on diligently from the 1970s, up until his passing in 1999, and which was finally completed in 2023 by his friends and collegues.

The Primevals was supposedly released on March 11, 2024. On the Internet I can read several articles, and reviews, of the film, ... but where actually is the film itself? I would like to buy it, if possible, on blu-ray (or dvd).

I think it's still in the "limited theatrical" circuit at the moment.

I’ve been seeing ads on Facebook for an Umbrella release. Guess it comes out in August.

So… there’s a release coming out in June AND September? Is that correct?

The Umbrella release will be region B locked. There is the Full Moon release that is coming out as well. The Ultimate Collector's Edition and a standard to follow later.

Dagnabbit! I knew about the Umbrella release but not the Full Moon release. I just checked their website and the Ultimate Collector's Edition that's signed by Charles Band is sold out! When did that go on sale? I hope that they will have more available but without the signature.

DANGGIT… I was really looking forward to getting this earlier than September… stupid region lock and me not having a multi-regional player…

Not sure if anyone posted about this yet, but I got Full Moon version of primevals

Movie disc s
Primevals - 22GB total disc size
Primevals David Allen Version - 20GB total disc size

Lossy audio, DD2.0 192kbps and DD5.1 448kbps (couldnt even spring for DD640 eh Full Moon)?

I was having problems getting audio working properly on my PC setup but it might just be a glitch and not the disc

Anyway, if you are a "best disc version" hunter and Region B enabled, its pretty safe to say the Umbrella version will likely beat the Full Moon given the above

Looks like the Umbrella release is a single disc release and therefore has the "David Allen" cut included in both their limited and standard editions (although I'm not seeing them refer to it with this exact name as Full Moon does), whereas Full Moon will drop the extended cut for their single disc standard release that is set to come out in September since the extended cut is on a separate disc in their CE. Does that seem right? Pretty lame if so and definitely creates an even stronger case to go for the Umbrella version.

I read that the Umbrella blu-ray disc is region B locked

I checked the Umbrella page and it's listed as Region B

I checked another title that I own, and that release had no region specified

Just thought I'd put this heads-up here in case some of you are considering the Umbrella option that is available

I just got the Umbrella PRIMEVALS disc and, despite what Umbrella has said, and despite the Region B icon on the back, it's region-free (which I sorta expected and was pleasantly surprised to find)! Looks fine in the quick run-through I gave it on my OPPO 103-- I am not sure if they used seamless branching or not.

Good to know… I need to scope this out.

Are ya sure this is region-free? Because that’s a lot of money to drop on a hunch. You have to be 100% certain. I don’t have a region-free player and no money to invest in one. Just a PS5 and Xbox One.
